About the role

The purpose of this job is to help with testing of new instrument in actual wastewater treatment plants. This involves traveling to different sites in the U.S., setting up the instrument and collecting and analyzing water samples. This position is part of the product development, and data analysis team.

This is a position for a summer intern. You must have completed at a minimum your sophomore year in college with at least 2 lab based chemistry classes. Majoring in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering is a plus.

Essential functions

Travel around the U.S. with another employee from the project team to wastewater treatment plants. (approximately 50% travel is expected). Travel will typically be conducted during the work week but may include occasional travel on the weekends. Travel is reimbursed.Setup the instrument to take measurements. This includes manually carrying the instrument to/from the plant, setting it up, mounting it to brackets, setting it up for use.Take samples from the plant and make analytical measurements. Ensure that the samples are properly handled and labeled for accuracy.Conduct designed reagent testing chemical experiments on the samples ensuring accuracy of testing.Accurately record all results, label and enter into either a spreadsheet or testing system.When not traveling, this position works in the R&D office in Loveland CO and will be helping run measurement performance tests on the instrument.

Must haves

Keen ability to be accurate. This means being accurate and precise in conducting testing and recording results. Strict adherence to test procedures and protocols. Detail oriented.Commitment to safety. This means commitment to your own safety, following safety procedures (both at Hach and customer sites).Flexibility to travel.Ability to manually carry/setup and lift a 25 pound instrument (multiple times). May require lowering and raising instrument to collect samples.Have completed their sophomore year in a university in a Chemistry or Chemical Engineering degree. Must have successfully completed at least 2 chemistry classes (general chemistry, analytical chemistry, organic chemistry) with lab work. Additional laboratory experience outside of coursework is strongly preferred.

Hiring into this position is contingent upon the successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen and background check and possible credit history review.

Compensation details

The base salary range for this role is $17.00/hr - $22.50/hr. Factors that will be considered for the salary offered to the successful candidate include internal equity, years of direct job related and skill experience, and relevant job market.

This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and this range is only applicable for jobs to be performed in Colorado. This range may be modified in the future.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The work environment for this position is both office and customer locations, specifically waste water treatment plants. The customer locations will vary and require moderate physical activity (e.g. lifting/carrying of materials).
