The accounting firm of Hankins Eastup Deaton Tonn Seay & Scarborough, LLC has been serving Denton and the North Texas area since 1965. Now a part of the S|CPA Network, with 6 offices across the state of Texas and Ohio. As well as remote CPA’s operating internationally in Mexico and the Philippines. We serve a diverse roster of clients including school districts, not-for-profits, municipalities, construction, real estate, community associations, and small- to medium-sized businesses.

Our firm is growing and looking to hire a Bookkeeper to help our firm expand its operations. We are currently seeking a dedicated self-starter with the ability perform bookkeeping, payroll, and tax work for a diverse roster of clients, and help drive the growth of the firm.

What you’ll do:

Due to our firm’s great potential for growth, duties, responsibilities, and activities may change over the course of employment to best fit the firm’s needs.

Bookkeeping Responsibilities: · Processing payments, invoices, receipts and entering data into accounting software or databases.· Reconciling bank statements· Prepare and send 1099.· Verifying the accuracy of business accounts and alerting the client of errors· Recording any inconsistencies to help reconcile inaccuracies.· Preparing monthly financial statements including cash flow, profit and loss and balance sheets. Tax Responsibilities: · Ensure accurate, timely filing of consolidated federal, state, and local income tax returns and other filings.· Communicate with clients and address their questions and concerns in a timely manner.· Develop and implement strategic tax planning for all necessary federal and state taxes.· Plan for and develop overall return calendar and coordinate timing and inputs with tax team.· Maintain effective control procedures over all aspects of the tax process.· Monitor legislative and regulatory tax law developments, communicate the effects of these developments to management and the tax team, and create strategies to capitalize on changes to taxation legislation.· Provide support with various internal audits and special tax related projects.· Manage and mentor members of tax team to greater levels of effectiveness and engagement. Please apply and tell us more about yourself. · Associates degree or higher in accounting or related field· Extensive individual/partnership/ corporate tax knowledge· Familiarity with U.S. federal, state, and local reporting requirements· Strong experience with a variety of tax operations and ability to drive process improvements.· Possess demonstrated experience (1-3 years) in public accounting providing tax services (Preferred)· Possess outstanding attention to detail and analytical skills.· Exhibit time management and organizational skills· Demonstrate a solid working knowledge of client businesses.· Are a team player, establishing good working relationships with all co-workers.· Possess effective interpersonal and communication skills – both written and verbal.· Demonstrate a commitment to exceptional client service and individual growth.
