📋 Role Overview & Responsibilities

Clinical Research Coordinator - (3284577) GENERAL SUMMARY/ OVERVIEW STATEMENT:The Family Center for Neurofibromatosis and Schwannomatosis at Massachusetts General Hospital is seeking a motivated, conscientious individual to join our team as a Clinical Research Coordinator (CRC). The CRC will work under general supervision of and report to the Principal Investigators (PIs), Dr. Scott Plotkin and Dr. Vanessa Merker, for day-to-day responsibilities and to the MGH Cancer Center Protocol Office (CCPO) Program Manager for administrative aspects.

Immersed in the daily operations of a busy clinical research program, this CRC works at the intersection of translational scientific research and clinical care. The CRC will be responsible for coordinating multiple research projects focused on developing and validating new measurement tools to use in clinical trials for neurofibromatosis and schwannomatosis. This includes the development of a new patient-reported outcome measure to assess improvements in tumor-related disfigurement and validation of a new mobile app-based video assessment of patients’ walking ability. Discoveries from this research will be integrated into innovative clinical trials conducted through the MGH Neurofibromatosis Clinic, helping improve treatment for future patients afflicted with these rare, neurogenetic disorders.

Our program provides personalized mentoring to all research staff. We offer opportunities for CRCs to shadow a range of healthcare providers, and encourage individuals’ participation in presentations at local and national conferences and publications in peer-reviewed scientific journals. Through frequent interactions with patients, their families, and healthcare professionals, the CRC can gain the insight and experiences to jumpstart a rewarding career in a multitude of clinical and research fields. This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) and is expected to last for at least 2 years.
