Job Summary And Qualifications

Provide leadership, management and administration of all aspects of departments in order to ensure organizational mission and objectives are metFunction as both an Assistant Nurse Manager and Transfer Center Agent when delegated as suchImplement and manage processes that will enhance access to HCA facilities, services, physicians, and health care professionalsHelp with hiring and maintain appropriate staffing levels and utilization of personnel and ensure the highest quality of professional skillProvide a structured means for policy and procedure development through regularly scheduled staff meetings allowing for continual evaluation, review, and update of standards, functions, goals, and objectivesAttend HCA Corporate Transfer Center meetings and trainingPromote HCA culture of excellence and quality service through teamwork, respectful communication, maintenance of a professional environment, partnership with those we serve, and anticipation of patient and customer needsManage capital/operational budget, strategic planning, customer relations, marketing, and outreach activities of the Transfer Center, Centralized Patient Placement and Behavioral HealthConsult with HCA Corporate and Division legal advisors on the interpretation and enforcement of the Inspector’s General Safe Harbor Regulations, EMTALA, Stark Laws, and any other points of law that are pertinent to department activitiesIn conjunction with the PLC Clinical Manager, collect, correlate, analyze, and interpret operational, financial, and statistical data. Inform and advise appropriate members of the HCA Senior Management team of potential business opportunitiesDemonstrate responsibility for the containment of costs through appropriate ordering of supplies, recovery of service charges, and conservation of suppliesMonitor department expenditures to ensure compliance with budget limitsRespond promptly to changes in workload, adjusting assignments as necessary to achieve optimal productivity and efficiencyImplement standards of performance, conduct annual performance evaluation, and initiate or make recommendations for HR actionsProvide leadership development to all staff for effective problem identification and resolution, and for efficient day-to-day operationsPractice and adhere to the Code of Conduct philosophy and Mission and Value StatementOther duties as assigned

Knowledge And Skills

Knowledge of the principles and practices of hospital and clinical operations and/or healthcare managementParticipative management style and an ability to work in a matrixed environmentExcellent interpersonal skills with an ability to work effectively with diverse groups of people, including but not limited to Corporate/Division leadership, HCA transfer center leadership, staff from information technology and clinical backgrounds, physicians, and external vendorsObtain knowledge of state and national rules and regulations, including EMTALAMust be independent, driven, self-motivated, and passionate with an exceptional work ethic, executive presence, integrity and presentation skills, both oral and writtenKnowledge of productivity, financial operations and reporting systemsProficient in Microsoft Office applications, Internet searches, and relevant databasesAbility to work independently and under pressure to follow through on issuesAbility to communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writingAbility to establish and maintain long-term customer relationships, building trust and respect by consistently meeting and exceeding expectationsAbility to work effectively with other employees and external parties

EDUCATION

Graduate of an accredited nursing program required; Bachelor’s degree in Nursing preferred

Experience

Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a RN clinical supervisor and/or supervisory experience preferred.

CERTIFICATE/LICENSE

RN License in the states where the HCA facilities for that Division are located – multi-state license required if Transfer Center covers more than a single state (may be obtained upon hire)
