📋 Role Overview & Responsibilities
Since 1967, Helen Keller National Center (HKNC) has been committed to improving the lives of individuals who are DeafBlind or have a combined hearing and vision loss. We currently have an exciting full time career opportunity available to join the HKNC team as a Groundskeeper! Responsible for the execution of HKS’s Mission, goals and objectives through the upkeep and maintenance of HKNC’s 21 acres.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Maintains grounds as directed by the Director of Facilities Management. Performs routine maintenance inspections on machinery, buildings and grounds, as assigned. Secures and locks all buildings, windows and gates. Maintains logs and records and reports any irregularities to supervisor. May be required to punch a watchman’s clock at various locations as directed. Conducts various tests and inspections as directed. Maintains boiler, machinery and equipment rooms in a clean and orderly condition. This will include, but not be limited to sweeping, washing, mopping, wiping off equipment and painting. Performs minor repairs and/or troubleshooting of equipment to keep plant in full operation. May be required to change over to spare equipment in the event of the failure of primary equipment. Responsible for snow removal as directed. Performs lots and drives maintenance including asphalt and concrete repair, parking lot striping, and curb painting.
REQUIRED EDUCATION And/or EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma required.
Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
Must not have color blindness.
Required ability to drive a standard shift vehicle.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must have a valid New York State Driver’s License.
