Summary: Under the direction of management, exercises responsibility for execution of department strategies and objectives. This position is responsible for managing and championing continuous improvement projects, supporting product launches, time and motion studies, creating labor budgets, capacity analysis, implementing lean principles, as directed by site IE Management. Position may serve as a corporate resource to all Engineering staff and Management teams from each (HIAMS)AM sites. This position exercises independent judgment routinely and operates within established guidelines.

Essential Functions: Includes the following (other duties may be documented and assigned by local management and some duties may not apply dependent upon the requirements of the position at each specific (HIAMS)AM site and/or the strengths of the employee and the needs of the company):

Lead continuous improvement activities to identify improvement opportunities and work with team to implement all action items. Will be conducting peak cycle reductions, line balance activities, change over reductions and other process improvements.

Support new product launches with cross functional teams, capacity analysis, and customer run at rate. Perform capacity analysis on manufacturing processes and interface directly with customer. Hold weekly capacity meetings internally to identify any potential capacity issues and develop plan to achieve needed volumes.Manage, champion and implement cost reduction improvements. Lead weekly meeting tracking labor minutes, champion Kaizen events. Implement lean manufacturing principles using various lean tools. Must have the ability to identify waste in a process and dock to dock for plant.Perform time and motion studies in a manufacturing environment, break down team member movement, machine cycle times and identify waste.Manage, create and set a labor budget for manufacturing plant. This position will be involved in creating labor budgets for multiple plants using time studies and forecasted volumes.Effectively communicate with cross functional team, area management, related co-workers, contractors, vendors, etc., to ensure project schedule, budget, and planned benefits are achieved with minimal impact to normal operations. Must have great people skills and ability to lead team through Kaizen and daily activities.Specify, source, and procure necessary tooling, equipment, and resources required to complete assigned projects within established guidelines.Must be fluent in Excel, Word, Auto Cad and Solid Works. Working knowledge of database and visual basic a plus.Support all business objectives of the company by aligning Industrial Engineering activities with the organizational goals and objectives.Exceptional customer service skills and the ability to work with all levels of staff required. Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of information is required.Must be a very hands on and self-motivated person.

Ability to do machining work and fabrication. Working knowledge of PLC’s and motor controls a plus.

Qualifications

Knowledge, skills & abilities: Must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Possess ability to perform duties utilizing current company software applications. Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering related field required.

Experience: 1 year prior related experience preferred.

Supervisory Responsibilities: Supervisory responsibilities are not required for this position.

Working Conditions

Physical Demands: Required to sit or stand for long periods of time. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Ability to work 40 – 60 hours per week, including weekends and holiday work.

Travel: Domestic travel required (average < 8 days per month) and International travel required (average < 1 week per year), to meet standard job requirements.

Work Environment: Balanced between office and manufacturing areas.
