Responsibilities

This position performs preventative and corrective maintenance on wastewater treatment plant and related facilities equipment. The incumbent has knowledge of a limited number of specific work tasks, and uses skills that are physical in nature to complete routine tasks. He/she deals with situations and activities that are straightforward in nature, and follows detailed guidelines, drawings and instructions to complete routine technical tasks. Under direction supervision and mentoring, performs a variety of tasks in the preventive and corrective maintenance on water/wastewater treatment plants and related facilities equipment on an assigned shift. In this training role, performs and assists in the performance of preventive and corrective maintenance on mechanical and electro-mechanical machinery and equipment, replaces of bearings in motors, pumps or other equipment, tightens and adjusts chains, removes and installs new or existing equipment or machinery, operates hoists, lifts and machinery, chip and paints, operates emergency power generation equipment, performs plumbing and pipefitting tasks as required. Is directed to assist in keeping maintenance records. Under direction, maintains and operates computer maintenance management system as required. Follows written and oral instructions.

Qualifications

Possession of high school diploma or G.E.D., supplemented by four years direct hands-on experience in the preventive maintenance, rehabilitation and repair of pumps, blowers, valves, conveyors, hydraulic systems and chemical feed equipment associated with wastewater treatment or an equivalent combination of training. Education and experience in a field of production using a similar type of equipment. Must possess and maintain a valid State of Florida driver's license. Applicants who possess a valid out of state driver's license must obtain the Florida driver's license within 10 days of employment.
