Chief Financial Officer

A successful midsize natural gas distribution company is looking for a top-notch Controller ready to make the leap into a CFO role. In this position you will be responsible for proactively leading the Finance, Accounting, Corporate Secretary and Treasury functions. This position reports to the President, is a member of the Executive team and Benefits Committee.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Direct the preparation of all financial reports and prepare analysis of operating results.Maintain strong and effective banking relationships to ensure the company’s availability of capital needed to achieve operating and growth objectives.Establish, cultivate and manage strong and beneficial relationships with other key partners including the company’s outside legal counsel, independent auditors, and various consultants; and serving as the company’s financial liaison to the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO).Productively lead and/or actively participate in Executive and Management teams.Provide leadership of corporate financial functions including financial and operational internal controls, planning, forecasting, budgeting and analysis, cash flow management, audit, new business analysis, and tax compliance.Ensure that accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls are consistently and effectively applied and in compliance with all PUCO, GAAP, Ohio Department of Taxation (ODOT), legal and regulatory requirements.Provide active leadership of comprehensive risk management and insurance programs. Evaluate and select insurance providers in conjunction with the President, Executive and Benefits Committee teams.Primary responsibility for all PUCO case filings and monitoring PUCO-approved rate of return.Partner with the Executive team to optimize financial outcomes through ongoing results analysis, early identification of revenue/cost trends and opportunities for strengthening and improvement of financial results, practices and policies.Active tracking and communication of industry trends, market risks/opportunities and associated recommendations to the President and Executive team.Demonstrate active leadership by creating positive, accountable and dynamic work environments through personal engagement, staff mentoring and employee development.Other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:Work onsite at company's office location in Bryan, Ohio.Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance. A combination of education and experience will be considered.CFO or Executive team experience is a plus.10+ years of experience as a Senior Leader or Manager in accounting at a successful company is essential.Demonstrated effectiveness in solving complex problems through analysis and collaborative, decisive solution implementation.Demonstrated strong analytical skillset.Effective communication of complex, detailed information through excellent verbal and written communication skills.High level of project management competency, inclusive of project schedule, scope, change management, risk management, planning and analysis.Demonstrated ability to assess and respond to ongoing and emerging business risks relating to financial operations, supply chain and changing market conditions.Demonstrated strategic and operational leadership of all finance functions ensuring compliance with GAAP and current best practices.

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:Strong leadership, analytical, financial, presentation, problem solving, and interpersonal skills are required.Good organizational skills and follow-up are essential, as are multi-tasking skills and attention to detail.Requires an enthusiastic, self-starter with excellent communication skills.
