Intro Paragraph

This is a role perfect for an individual with proven interconnect engineering, siting, and planning skills. We seek ‘forward-leaning’ candidates who can coordinate and deliver high-quality engineering and planning deliverables. You will be working on large-scale solar and storage projects across the US, with direct exposure to planning and zoning offices, permitting, and engineering consultants, as well as internal executive management. The candidate must have a keen eye for details and an understanding of the planning and engineering process to bring projects to commercial operation.

Your Job

You will be part of a core team in the Planning & Engineering Department, supporting the development of transmission interconnection packages for right-of-way acquisition and development related to the Company’s solar and storage projects. It is important to note that this is an applied role – the work you do will advance integrated solar power plant developments across the United States. Candidates should have experience in the generator interconnection process, transmission right-of-way acquisition, project siting, permitting, and development. Candidates should be proficient in CAD and GIS software to produce deliverables for the advancement of transmission and solar developments.

Ideal candidates will have work experience with EPC, IE/OE engineering firms, planning, and zoning commissions, and permitting with various federal, state, and local agencies.

Your profile

Work closely with the Project Development Team to identify and execute Transmission interconnection rights-of-way. This includes but is not limited to, identifying potential transmission routes, producing right-of-way drawings for land negotiations, preparing drawings per interconnection queue requirements, preparing drawings for preliminary permitting and environmental due diligence efforts, and contributing to high-voltage project management.Coordinate with the Project Development Team to establish and advance critical path tasks pertaining to gen-tie interconnects.Collaborate with the Transmission Interconnection team on engineering requirements needed to maintain and progress interconnection queue positions.Develop and maintain a detailed database reporting on the portfolio of projects and their respective statuses pertaining to right-of-way acquisition, interconnection, permitting, and transmission design.Review regulatory requirements and technical permitting parameters that affect gen-tie siting, design, and construction.Conduct technical analyses in GIS, CAD, and other engineering software; utilize expertise to produce pertinent deliverables for right-of-way acquisition.Collaborate with the Project Finance Team and Project Development Team on budgets for right-of-way acquisition and development, construction estimates, and due diligence efforts.Substation design, permitting, and siting experience is welcomed but not required.

Essentials

Minimum 2 years of transmission planning and engineeringStrong written and verbal communication skillsEnvironmental, Civil, Construction, Mechanical, and/or Electrical engineering backgroundExperience in site developmentExperience in Transmission siting/route development & permitting.Understanding of permitting with various agencies such as USACE, USFWS, and others.Experience in various ISO’s and other interconnection authoritiesAbility to learn engineering principles and software.Highly productive and efficient with minimal oversightAffinity for detail and high-quality workResourceful and communicativeKnowledge and understanding of EPC processes.
