Staff Accountant
📋 Role Overview & Responsibilities
IFG's Downtown Chicago client is looking for a staff accountant to join their team. Core responsibilities include participating in the month end close and related transaction processing, reviewing and verifying the accuracy of financial statement accounts, and performing complex reconciliations of general ledger accounts.
This position is hybrid with 3 days in the office (Tues - Thurs)
Compensation is $65,000 to $77,000.
ResponsibilitiesWork closely with other accountants to organize monthly general ledgerPrepare journal entries and account reconciliationsEnsure proper cut-off and accounting for assigned accountsPrepare financial statements and schedules for internal reportingCompile schedules to be used by outside auditors in their reviews and year-end auditAssist with monthly flux analysesEfficiently compile, retrieve and summarize accounting information for analyses and reporting purposesReview compliance or coordinate accounting matters with other departments and locations as necessarySupport on ad-hoc projects as needed
Required Qualifications:Bachelor degree in accounting and at least 2 years of relevant experience requiredStrong accounting and analytical backgroundAttention to detail -- able to complete tasks with high level of accuracySkilled at completing and recording financial transactions. Able to aid in developing information for financial statements and balance sheet reconciliationsProficient in using accounting software and other applicable financial softwareHighly skilled in Microsoft ExcelHigh level of organization and ability to manage to deadlines
