Conservation Campaign Manager
📋 Role Overview & Responsibilities
The Conservation Campaign Manager will be responsible for developing and leading a campaign for Indiana-based conservation and water interests. ICV is seeking a professional with strong instincts for coalition-building, to ensure that excellent public policy ideas don’t end up unread on a shelf, but instead unite diverse stakeholders and become law, whether at the local, state, or federal level. The Manager's goal will be to elevate the issues of conservation stewardship and wetland protection as supreme for elected officials, voters, and the broader public.
The goal of Indiana Conservation Voters and its family of organizations is to ensure that Indiana’s elected officials are held accountable to Hoosiers who deserve clean energy, water and air. We envision an Indiana where the voices of voters, impacted communities, and future generations are centered, and where a new movement of engaged Hoosiers demand that their government prioritizes them and the land, air, and water on which they rely.
DutiesBuild a conservation coalition with disparate interest groups, including those outside of traditional environmental advocacy.Craft coalition-supported executive and legislative agendas for 2025 and beyond. The manager must build relationships to bring disparate coalition members together to back common sense legislation.Execute tactics already in motion, including implementation of watershed development commissions, statewide water resource planning, a youth media training intern, lobbying on the Hill and in the Statehouse, and more.Support a communications plan for passage of the federal Farm Bill targeted towards members of Congress and key stakeholders.Help the Executive Director implement and improve the strategic vision for the organization, while suggesting expansion into new policy areas in the long-term.
QualificationsAt least 1 year of experience in environmental work At least 1 year of experience in Indiana state government, state government relations, in-state political campaigns, and/or grassroots advocacy.Strong focus on clear deadlines, deliverables, and measurable goals.Experience in Indiana state government, state government relations, in-state political campaigns, and/or grassroots advocacy.Relationships with staff from NGOs, Indiana state government, and industry.Knowledge of conservation policy across water, lands, and sustainable agriculture.Passion for environmental issues and advocacy for Indiana.Self-starter who is excited to create and take creative ownership of their own book of work.Flexibility, eagerness, and patience to work for a startup organization.
Salary: $55,000 based on experienceLocation: Remote, must be located anywhere in IndianaFull-time with medical, dental, vision QSEHRA for individual or familyEligible for 3% SEP IRAUnlimited PTO90-day probationary period for benefitsAvailable ASAP
