Registered Nurse Fellow CVICU

Job Description

We are seeking a full time Registered Nurse Fellow for the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit at Inova Fairfax Medical Campus. D/N rotation 3 x 12-hour shifts. Start date for this position will be September. We will provide Fellowship for an experienced RN looking to change specialties (cardiac background is desired).

The Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) is a 24-bed unit in the Inova Schar Heart and Vascular located on the Inova Fairfax Medical Campus in Falls Church, Virginia. Patients admitted to the CVICU include, but are not limited to, post cardiac surgery, post vascular surgery, heart failure requiring invasive cardiac monitoring, and other medical or surgical diagnosis requiring intense and continuous monitoring.

The CVICU is a highly specialized unit providing the latest in clinical and patient care techniques. The unit prides itself in maintaining a culture of psychological safety where all disciplines are treated with respect and encouraged to participate in all aspects of patient care. Support for all team members is of the utmost importance as evidenced by the following: Charge RN that remains out of staffing; each shift has a Resource Nurse who is a fully device trained RN to provide support and education for staff, covers nurses for lunch and admits patients if staffing calls for it; the unit also staffs for 2 clinical technicians each shift as well as a mid-shifter to accommodate the surgical cases throughout the day. In addition, CVICU has a dedicated Unit Educator to support the growth and progression on each team member from the beginning of their orientation and throughout their CVICU career. The unit and its leadership team understand that to care for the high acuity of this patient population, the nursing team needs the support and resources to be able to critically think, allow for work-life harmony and foster an environment where growth, learning and achievement is encouraged and celebrated.

Requirements

A minimum of 1 year experience as a RN (prefer 2+ years cardiac experience).Education - BSN from an accredited school of nursing.

If RN has an Associates Degree (ADN)- must complete BSN within 24 months of start date

BLS for Healthcare Provider Certification required and ACLS strongly preferred (must obtain within first 3 months)RN licensed, or eligible to practice in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a RNProficient in English, strong verbal and written communication skillsExceptional interpersonal skill and the ability to display a caring demeanor towards othersProficient computer skills required
