Engineering Documentation Specialist (Tech Writer)Location: Greenbelt, MD- Partially Remote!Compensation: $100k-$125k
Our client is looking for an Engineering Documentation Specialist to support NASA. The Engineering Documentation Specialist will perform technical writing functions for multiple projects including design, development, operations, maintenance, software and hardware technical manuals and others as defined during project execution.
Responsibilities:Work alongside engineers to create technical design, operations, maintenance, & drawing documents for existing and future systemsCreate new and update any legacy documents already developedUse engineering documentation, operator and maintenance manuals, logistics data, and direction from senior TW and engineers to create, write, revise, standardize, edit, review, and finalize documentsResearch, develop, and/or update content for printed manuals, Contract Data Requirements Lists (CDRLs), I-types, and Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) documents, illustrations, and parts breakdown manualsGather and research technical information, including engineering and development information, for use in documentation activities, prepare draft material for internal review by subject matter experts and final review by customerMust exhibit flexibility of work hours to adjust to surge situations based on critical mission requirements.Required Education, Experience, & Skills:Bachelor’s degree in related field7 + years of engineering related technical writing experience.Ability to read & edit engineering drawings, blueprints, wiring diagrams and schematicsProven ability to prepare draft material for internal review by subject matter experts and final review by customerExcellent written and verbal communication skillsPrevious experience researching, reviewing and understanding technical information as well as developing procedural information for technical documentationWorking knowledge and experience with space or electrical engineering support.CAD products, including but not limited to AutoCad & SolidWorks
