Your impact

You will play a vital role in managing the Satellite Engineering function of all Intelsat Fleet 2 Satellites, applying Intelsat best practice concept of operation to the utmost satisfaction of our customers

What You Will Do

Manage Satellite Engineering for approximately 20 satellites Lead a team of highly technical satellite systems engineers responsible for safe and efficient integration, operation, and decommissioning of satellite systems and subsystems Coordinate and drive real time response to in orbit anomalies with the goal to “save the satellite” and to “minimize the traffic outage” In cooperation with Mission Assurance, define, implement and enforce concept of operations for assigned satellites Develop and implement tools and processes to maximize operational safety, usable satellite capacity and extend Orbital Maneuver Lives Leadership responsibilities include: managing a group of 5 to 7 engineers at one or more locations; creating/defining goals, assigning specific roles and responsibilities; establishing clear and consistent performance standards; coaching and mentoring; maintaining accountability for actions and results; leading others through change and making timely and/or difficult decisions Coordinate failure reviews and non-routine operation activities with satellite manufacturer and 3rd party customers (as applicable) Support Management in balancing external customers’ interests against operational risk in technical decision making Represent Satellite Engineering in the SSEO ecosystem Represent Satellite Engineering in internal failure reviews (as necessary) Support management-level discussions with external customers, assist Business Development in assessing and capturing new business (as necessary) Support Management assessment, reporting and messaging of spacecraft state of health

Your Required Experience/skills

Bachelor’s degree in related engineering discipline Minimum 5+ years satellite design engineering or satellite operations engineering experience Experience with and knowledge of all satellite subsystems  Demonstrated aptitude for and interest in management and leadership Excellent communication skills (written and verbal), including experience in presenting technical data and metrics to non-technical audiences. Proficiency in MS Office Suite This role is subject to ITAR/EAR; candidates must be a US Person (this includes US Citizen, Permanent Resident or Protected Individual such as an asylee or refugee).

Demonstrated capability building and maintaining good working relationships with peers and stakeholders including project sponsors, key customers, and department members, ensuring that communication is responsive and that a mutual understanding is obtained, either orally or in writing Setting and maintaining consistent expectations for direct reports Maintaining short/medium and long term perspective in a fast-paced operations environment Quickly assessing and setting priorities in a changing environment then clearly expressing those priorities to your direct reports Working with mcl management to resolve operational issues Intentionally foster diverse perspectives (technical and otherwise) to promote dialogue Right sizing the team’s approach to problems Focusing team attention and resources and instilling urgency or caution as appropriate Training, coaching and guiding staff for organizational and individual growth

It would be nice if you had

MS in related engineering discipline or MBA Management or supervisory experience Design or Operational knowledge of specific fleet bus(s) and spacecraft
