IES Writing Specialist Who We AreInterface Education Services (IES) is a leading provider of higher education counseling to students around the world. Our expert, empathic team helps students gain admission to the best-fit undergraduate colleges/universities and graduate programs, with a focus on self-discovery and self-development. The OpportunityIES seeks a full-time, remote essay specialist to join our team. This position will support the college counseling team and a cohort of students with writing assistance for college applications and summer programs. This position can be based anywhere with a flexible work schedule, though access to high-speed internet and availability week in multiple time zones is required. Salary is between $65,000 - $85,000, depending on experience, with the following benefits: bonus based on company-wide performance; $500 monthly stipend for health insurance; and fifteen personal days annually. Up to $1,000 professional development allowance annually. As a full-time IES writing specialist, you will:Design curricula and create content to develop skills, confidence, and a love for writing creative non-fiction (personal essays, as well as other types of narrative and reflective writing)Oversee a small team of part-time essay coaches, which will include training and assigning coaches to students (with the Director of College Counseling)Participate in the hiring search/interview process for PT essay coachesCoach students in small groups and individually to develop their storytelling abilities and support them in communicating their stories to colleges in authentic, unique essays.Support students with required essays for competitive summer programs, college applications, honors programs, and scholarships. Collaborate enthusiastically and responsively with counselors and customer service to support student development and success Participate in ongoing professional development, training, and staff meetings Support students with brainstorming and writing scripts for college interview/ admission videosMust have flexibility to work with students in the afternoons, evenings, and/or weekends, especially during the busy admission season Who You Are A successful candidate will:

Have 3-5+ years of proven, recent professional success in an education environment teaching and mentoring young teens in developing creative writing skills. A desire to ‘geek out' about trends and news in the college admissions space Demonstrate a strong knowledge base, patience, and passion for advising teenagersBe able to work with students on all ends of the achievement spectrum, including ESL learnersBe an excellent writer and communicatorBe proactive and able to work independentlyBe a true team player who wants to collaborate with team members to ensure the best outcomes for students and contribute to the long-term growth of IESRemain flexible and calm under pressure Feel confident communicating with families, while establishing professional boundaries to protect teens, counselors, and team members Academic background (MA/MFA/PhD) in creative writing or similar fieldGraduate of a university of liberal arts college with a selective admissions processExperience working with international students is not required, but preferredA record of published work preferredExperience supervising others preferred If interested and qualified, please send a cover letter, pdf of your resume/CV, and a sample edit to Susan Gorin at susangorin@interfaceedu.com
