Job Description

The Culinary Diet Tech provides nutrition services to patients. This position interacts with clinical caregivers, patients, and patient’s family members to explain the meal process.

Bedside PositionWork Schedule: Part Time, 24 hours per weekWork Shift: 12hr shifts (7:00 am - 8:00 pm)Benefits Eligible: Yes, for positions 20 hrs/wk or more. (Health, Vision, & Dental Insurance, 401(K), education assistance, + many more) No Benefits for positions 19 hrs/wk or less

Job Essentials

Assists in meal selection for patients as established by standard guidelines Records and modifies patient meal orders based on physician diet orders and Intermountain Modified Diet Guideline Works with the clinical team to provide excellent patient care Uses technology and meal ordering platform to facilitate the nutrition care process and needed departmental reports Communicates patient needs to room service assembly area Performs functions of room service call center and Bedside Connect Provides exceptional customer service in all customer and patient interactions May complete calorie count and nutrition analysis as dictated by facility Check and verify that patients receive appropriate meal selections on the room service line Delivers patient trays according to department policy to provide safe and efficient meal service Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

Food handler's permit (as required by facility. Remote workers may be exempt from this requirement).Demonstrated good communication and interpersonal skills.Demonstrated decision making and problem-solving skills.Demonstrated basic computer skills and keyboarding proficiency.Demonstrated math skills.Demonstrated ability to transcribe information quickly and accurately.Preferred: Food service or healthcare experience.Preferred: Coursework in Nutrition

Physical Requirements

Interact with patients and co-workers requiring the employee to verbally communicate information, as well as understand spoken information.Operate food service equipment or computer requiring the ability to move fingers and hands.See and read labels, monitors, and documents.Carry, push/pull, and walk while transporting food, supplies, and service equipment.Climb, squat, kneel, and lift to clean equipment and reach and retrieve food and supplies.Remain standing for long periods of time to perform work.Tolerate extremes in temperature such as performing work at a grill or in a refrigerator.
