📋 Role Overview & Responsibilities
This is a full-time position for a person that is goal-oriented, revenue-driven, highly motivated and strives for accuracy. Primary duties include, but are not limited to the following:
Accurately posting insurance payments.Reading and interpreting insurance explanation of benefits.Respond to inquiries from insurance companies and providers.Posting of patient paymentsTimely follow up on insurance claim denials, exceptions or exclusions.Make necessary arrangements for medical records requests, completion of additional information requests, etc. as requested by insurance companies.Review accounts receivable to follow up on unpaid claims aged over 45 days.Reducing Insurance and Patient Accounts ReceivableProcessing of both patient & insurance overpaymentsPreparation of daily depositsRespond to inquiries from patients via phone, e-mail, web-portal, and face-to-facePreparing self-pay quotesSetting up payment plans & credit card on fileEntering of charges. (Office, Hospital, CCM, Home Health, etc.)Verifies completeness and accuracy of all claims prior to submission.Ensure all claims are submitted with a goal of zero errors.Regularly meet with Manager to discuss and resolve reimbursement issues or billing obstacles.Regularly attend monthly staff meetings and continuing educational sessions as requested.Perform additional duties as requested by Supervisor or Management team.Meet deadlines.
Behavioral AttributesKnowledgeable on insurance and reimbursement process.Good math and data entry (typing) skills.Exercises good judgement and discretion.Familiarity with HIPAA privacy requirements for patient information. Maintains and protects confidential information.Proficient in use of computers and common office equipment.Good verbal and written communication skills.Basic understanding of medical terminology, ICD-10 codes and CPT medical billing codes.Good telephone and patient relation skills.Detail oriented and ability to prioritize work.More experienced insurance billing specialists work with minimal direction and oversight.
