Field Technician II - Building and Construction

Intertek is searching for a Field Technician to join our Building & Construction team in our Windham, New Hampshire office. The Technician will assist with field testing and building inspections. We’re looking for entry level and/or experienced technicians; on the job training is provided. This position provides opportunity for growth and development with the department and company. You will need to have some basic construction or carpentry skills (tape measure, saw, screw gun, etc). Company provided vehicles. This job requires some over night travel .

What you’ll do:

Field testing projects and building inspections as assignedForensic investigations of building envelope failuresCommunicate with clients and project team regarding site observations, test preparation, procedures, results, and reporting matters Prepare and submit accurate and concise reports on all projects assignedProvide project coordination including planning, scheduling, execution and reportingConsistent and professional interaction and communication with clients and project team

What it takes to be successful in this role

High school diploma or GED Required, Associate degree in a technical field preferred2+ years construction experience, general knowledge of basic construction and carpentry skills requiredAbility to learn the building envelope including wall cladding systems, curtain wall, window and door systems, waterproofing, roofing, etc. and their installation means and methodsWorking knowledge of test methods and standards associated with testing of these systems or the ability to learn and comprehend these standardsAptitude for working independently on assigned projectsTechnical competency and ability to effectively communicate with customers and co-workers, both in writing and orallyAbility to develop and maintain good rapport with clients and subcontractorsStrong planning and organizational skills with the ability to meet changing priorities and strict deadlinesEffective communication skills with the ability to develop and maintain good rapport with clients, designers, contractors, etcGood computer skills – Microsoft Office & OutlookAbility to perform work from ladders, boom-lifts, high reach equipment, roof levels, etcAbility to routinely lift a minimum of 50 pounds, climb stairs and ladders, bend, crawl, push and pull as neededWillingness to travel 50% of the time or moreValid driver’s license and reliable driving record (required)

Organization

The Building & Construction team provides assurance, testing, inspection, and certification services and building science solutions to deliver Total Quality Assurance to the built environment. The team offers the architectural, engineering and construction (A/E/C) industry with a full suite of capabilities both in the lab and on site.
