Business Analyst - Investment Management

The client is looking for a driven, motivated, experienced Business Analyst and Project Manager who understands the Investment/Asset Management business and can excel in a fast-paced environment transitioning to Agile.

Compensation:Rate is open (all rates commensurate with experience are welcome)

Location:Chicago, IL (Hybrid)

Qualifications

5+ years of Investment/Asset Management experienceMid to senior (5-8 years) project management and planning experience with a proven track record of executing against a defined project plan and driving projects through successful execution implementation on time and budgetMid to senior (5-8 years) business analysis, requirements gathering, research/analysis, and assessment skillsStrong understanding of front to middle office, portfolio management and trading, and the full trade lifecycleExperience with scope definition, gap analysis, impact assessments, vendor management, 3rd party analysis, product assessment, and Target Operating Model.Knowledge of controls for front office trading, allocation, pre-settlement controls, and testing preferredAdvanced expertise in project management principles and possessing the ability to apply these tools and techniques to plan, manage, and execute projects to ensure successful completion e.g., on time, within budget, qualityBackground in Compliance and Regulatory initiatives is preferredThe ability to communicate clearly and confidently with all levels of the business, including executive managers, possessing effective stakeholder management and negotiation skillsFamiliarity with different project management approaches like Scrum/Agile, Kanban, and Waterfall, with more recent experience with Agile concepts such as product and sprint backlogs, user stories, story points, velocity, burndown, continuous integration, test-driven development, continuous and automated testing, and the ability to break down complex problems into manageable storiesExperience and understanding of the software development life cycle (SDLC), common software development processes and procedures, and effectively managing project resources (internal, consultant, and vendor) with different responsibilitiesAbility to relate to, interact with, and effectively work with a technical team, as well as (non-technical) individuals in various business units within the firmWorking knowledge of AgileJIRA experience is a plusVery comfortable working both independently and collaboratively in an entrepreneurial culture with a high level of ambiguityThe ability to think both critically and strategically with a vision toward the future will be paramount in this roleCRD experience helpfulStrong change management skills and ability to influence stakeholders and across teams

ResponsibilitiesThis individual will design and execute the project portfolio management process for various Technology, Business, or Transformation Office projects including:

Capturing and prioritizing the Transformation Office and Technology requests, and driving them through the approval and intake processesPreparing and reviewing requirements/stories, and performing gap and impact analysis and risk assessmentsDeveloping and documenting operating models and workflows/swim lane diagrams, including current and future stateFacilitating the definition of project scope, goals, and deliverables by working directly with the requesting teams within the firm by the Transformation Office procedures and best practices for project execution and deliveryReporting on project status and metrics, tracking deliverables using the appropriate tools and project methodologiesAssisting in the development and continuous refinement of the firm’s project management process, tools, and standardsProviding direction, support, and leadership, and removing impediments to the project teamArranging and facilitating daily stand-up meetings, sprint planning meetings, and demonstrations/showcasesAlign with the Product Owners to ensure the product backlog is maintained, prioritized and captures the business valueActing as a liaison to the Product Owner effectively and efficiently documents and articulates business needs to stakeholders providing direction and clarificationFoster collaboration; increase visibility; and drive efficiency through process review, evaluation, and continuous improvement across the organizationPMO participation in the development and implementation of project governance and standards in alignment with the Transformation OfficeFocus on delivery excellence, including Investment excellence
