BUYER ASSISTANT

Assist in various aspects of the buying process, including conducting price analysis, staying updated on industry trends, and assessing profitability. This role requires excellent analytical skills, effective communication abilities, and a passion for the retail distribution industry.

Perform price analysis and market research to determine competitive pricing strategies and identify opportunities for margin improvement.Stay informed about industry trends, market dynamics, and consumer preferences to anticipate demand and make informed purchasing recommendations.Work closely with sales and marketing teams to develop promotional strategies and capitalize on emerging trends.Assist in evaluating the profitability of product lines and individual SKU’s, making recommendations for adjustments as necessary.Maintain organized records of purchases, vendor agreements and pricing contracts for reference and audit purposes.Provide support to the senior buying team in various administrative tasks, including but not limited to order processing, vendor communication, and inventory reconciliation.Assist in procurement of inventory items, ensuring alignment with company standards and customer preferences.Entering, updating, managing, tracking, and organizing purchase orders in all systems to ensure timely delivery.Prioritizing and reacting with a sense of urgency to the requests from both the merchant and cross functional teams.Demonstrate the ability to effectively utilize the merchandising systems and understand the warehouse processes. Includes utilizing systems and preparation of reporting to allow for interpretation of the business,Analyze current business performance to understand future impact to make recommendations to manager.As applicable, responsible for direct store shipments and flex order guideResponsible for all aspects of managing inbound purchase orders: revisions, expedites, dating, securing of appointments and routine follow up until receipt.Email communication: Review and respond to emails from buyers, vendors, and warehouse pertaining to purchase orders, inventory management and impaired inventory issues.Monitor shipments to guarantee timely and accurate delivery of products to stores and settle problems associated with undelivered or damaged goods.

QUALIFICATIONSPrevious experience in retail, merchandising, or procurement preferred.Strong analytical and quantitative skills with proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data analysis tools.Excellent communication and negotiation abilities with the ability to build and maintain relationships with vendors.Detail-oriented with a keen eye for product quality and market trends.Knowledge of inventory management systems and retail software preferred.Passion for the retail distribution industry and commitment to delivering exceptional customer service.We are headquartered in Montgomery, TX with field reps throughout North American and the Alaska.
