📋 Role Overview & Responsibilities
Serve as an engineering leader at JLL!
The Chief Engineer oversees the efficient, safe and responsible operation of all building systems and equipment while also leading the engineering team. You will oversee an engineering team of 5 at a client site in Baltimore, Maryland. This position requires the Chief Engineer to be on-site. Local market requirements may vary slightly.
Schedule: 7am-3pm (flexible) Monday through Friday, on-call rotation.
What You’ll Do
Oversee the maintenance and continuous operation of all building systemsSupervise and manage engineers and maintenance staff including hiring, training, coaching and personal developmentCreate and routinely update a documented plan that includes preventive, predictive and reactive maintenance proceduresParticipate regularly in client-facing and property team communicationsLead, create and manage engineering budget and participate in overall operating budget processAssist in the development of a capital improvement planSelect, schedule, supervise and direct contractors; monitor and document performanceRespond effectively to emergencies and service callsLead and organize ongoing technical, safety, and operational process training programs and proceduresOther duties as requested by property management team and/or client
SITE SPECIFIC CONSIDERATIONS
Oversee customer facing activities including Venue Services, Event Management, Reception, Tours, Food Service, Fitness Center, and other amenitiesThis key leadership role will collaborate with stakeholders across the organization developing strong relationships with Client and the communityThis professional will manage both JLL Employees and third-party vendors, ensuring consistent superior customer serviceFamiliar with building related technology and sustainability initiatives that require monitoring/utilization information from dashboards including but not limited to energy consumption, solar consumption, lighting controls and building automationManage financial aspects of projects with vendors, including service providers and consultants. Understanding of the financial implications of a proposed physical planProficient at reading and interpreting mechanical, electrical and plumbing prints, service provider agreements, purchase orders and contractsSupport facilities, events, sales, and marketing activities through an engaged partnership approach. Develop and manage operating budgets in the context of a thoughtful and comprehensive strategic operating planEnsure operations comply with state and local laws. Integrate sustainability into client operationsExperience interpreting client needs and translating to project team
What You Bring To The Table
7+ years of related experience, especially as a Chief Engineer, Assistant Chief Engineer or similarPeople management experience (leading a team)Maryland Grade 3 Stationary Engineer License or equivalentTrade school education, union training, military service or college is desirableUniversal CFC EPA certificationExperience using Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, Teams)Ability to lift up to 50 lbsComfort using ladders up to 30 feet tallAbility to frequently climb, bend, kneeling, lift and/or driveStrong customer service and communication skills
