What You Will Do

Plan, direct, and coordinate the Largo Shipping Department and its processes. Develop, evaluate, and improve the structure of the shipping Departments to provide our customers with an efficient and accurate delivery of products. Create work instructions, provide trainings, and analyze opportunities for improvement.

How Will You Do It

Responsible for managing outbound and inbound transportation and shipping processes efficiently and cost effectively. Ensure continuous improvement through analysis of performance and expense.Coordinate, facilitate and recommend strategies that will best use the company’s transportation resources.Maintain, develop, and administer shipping policies and operations procedures that will produce on-time delivery, optimum customer service, effective utilization of carrier base, and effective utilization of shipping department personnel.Implement process improvements and train staff, as required.Participate in bids, logistics projects, and cost savings initiatives to improve and expand core carrier base.Monitor and approve freight bills for payment.Establish and maintain payment/audit reports for all carriers.Establish and maintain transportation/shipping metrics for on time delivery measurements, carrier performance to promise, and logistics cost savings.Manage modes of transportation, monitor transit times for improvement opportunity.File claims and settles within carrier liability time period.Manage order consolidation/cube/load planning to optimize trailer utilization.Responsible for monitoring inbound transportation programs and landed costs. Develop metrics and provide routing reporting of relevant costs.Participate in the annual budgeting process.Effectively deploy transportation resources to achieve budgetary objectives and optimum customer service in delivery of purchased goods.Work under pressure and juggle multiple and changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.Identify and watch for industry trends and carrier capabilities.Monitor the quality of inbound and outbound shipments and approve freight bills.Maintains working relationships with transportation representatives, vendors, and suppliers to ensure cost control and competitiveness.Ensure that all manufactured products are effectively managed to meet all US and foreign export laws and regulations. Ensure accuracy and proper retention of all export and domestic documentation.Ensure pre- use inspections of equipment is performed as defined on the specific equipment of from Safety rules.Oversee the removal of finished palletized product from the end of the manufacturing line and deliver to the crating area.Ensure all product, including small packages, are crated, weighed, measured, scanned, and labeled on each pallet prior to transporting to staging area or loading onto trailer.Identify and report any concerns either quality or as it pertains to specific job requirements etc.Oversee and ensure that 5S program is maintained in the work area. Review all equipment to make sure it is clean orderly, and employees follow prescribed safety regulations.Performing the correct and timely completion of packaging, and shipping functions; and receiving functions based on the following:Picking orders accurately as noted on picking sheet noting date codes when required.Secure Units or items to pallets by banding & shrink wrapping to prevent damage in transit.Inspect shipment so that they meet our quality standards.Receiving Products, noting condition of shipment, quantities, reference number and the need for certificates when required.Monitors Plant Metrics and communicate any issue to management.Shipping supervisors will cover shipping clerk when needed.

What We Look For

Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, or similar education. Min 4-6 years transportation management experience, or combination of the two.Ability to manage multiple priorities in an organized fashion.Ability to make confident decisions.Leadership, coaching and change agent skills required.Excellent oral/written communication and interpersonal skills required.Computer proficiency, ERP and logistics software required.Knowledge of supply chain management.
