Position Overview

To help Momence Packing reach our goal to be the "Best Company in the World", a successful candidate will strategically plan, direct, and lead the implementation of safety and environmental programs and guidelines through member ownership.

Responsibilities

Create the "Safest" Company in the World through continuous improvement, ownership, member engagement, and driveLead the facility safety effort through the creation, implementation, and direction of processes and programs to meet operational needs while maintaining and managing safety compliance to world class safety standardsLead, design and implement environmental management systems to monitor and mitigate the environmental impact of the organization’s activities and ensure all organizational processes meet the required standardsOversee adherence to safety and environmental policies performing regular audits and addressing instances of non-compliance. Compile detailed and comprehensive reports and maintain meticulous records as mandated by lawServes as the emergency response coordinator and works in conjunction with emergency services to conduct a thorough investigation of incidents to determine the root causes and preventive measuresFacilitate Safety education and training throughout the membership and during meetings making safety part of day-to-day activities, while inserting safety into every related process of our businessLead efforts to create and maintain a safety culture that leverages member ownership, involvement, and personal accountabilityTake an active role in the Corporate Safety Leadership team and facilitate the sharing of ideas between facilities at the corporate level (incorporate Johnsonville programs into Momence Packing practices)Coach the Safety Coordinator of the Momence facilityActively participate as a member of the Momence Packing Core TeamFacilitate the Safety Team to lead and ensure compliance with all governmental safety regulations, procedures, guidelines and best practicesDevelop and lead efforts on the attainment of all safety key performance indicatorsLead safety compliance evaluations for facility specific requirementsManage Workers Compensation Claims and Property Insurance recommendationsActively participate in continuous learning to grow knowledge and skills through classes, webcasts/seminars, OSHA compliance trainings

Education

Bachelor’s Degree required – safety emphasis preferred

Experience

5 years of experience leading safety in a manufacturing environment preferred

A passion for safety that motivates others to want to succeedProven leadership qualities in managing teams, getting work done through others, meeting timelines, and holding yourself accountable for safety resultsThe ability to complete safety actions even when you have to rely on others to help complete those actionsA history of motivating individuals and teams to rally around safety KPI’s and complete upstream actions to promote world class safetyStrong verbal and written communication skillsAbility to prioritize and balance multiple ongoing tasks. Strong technical knowledge of regulatory programs in safety

Other Requirements

Responsible for safety oversight of 2nd and 3rd shift operations and the ability to visit those shifts at times.
