Position Overview

As the Production Harvest Manager, you will be responsible for coaching and developing Harvest, Deboning, and Processing coaches, team leaders and members. This position is involved in the planning and execution of manufacturing objectives to achieve company/facility goals in four end-states (safety, quality, cost, and service). You will leverage your skills and experience in the areas of leadership, continuous improvement, project management, and building people to develop strategies and tactics that will ensure successful production of the most craveable sausage in the world. You will act as a role model and educator of the Johnsonville Way thus facilitating this as “a way of life” within the Momence Packing facility.

Responsibilities

Own the safety, quality, and productivity results in the areas you are focusedDrive continuous improvement efforts that will facilitate the creation of “safety as a way of life” which will lead us towards our goal of 0 IFR year after yearWork closely with the Operations Coordinator to develop budget and strategic plans for the areaLead efforts to create and sustain readiness pipelines within the operationIn conjunction with Coaches and Team Leaders, lead hiring teams and processes as it relates to new member and new position hiring and onboardingHave dual ownership with Coaches on performance, reviews, development, Personal Development Commitments, and disciplinary issues that occur on the production floorLead efforts for Animal Welfare and Humane Handling Best Practices, Sanitary Dressing Processes, and Harvest Best PracticesWiden the circle of engagement and ownership with members in the areas of safety, food safety/quality, cost of goods manufactured, customer service, member development and BPTW (Best Place to Work)Facilitate and lead new product and new technology implementation teams across the Harvest departmentsPromote and instill a culture of personal learning and professional development that will ensure the successful development of all Members within the businessCoach your area and its Members to deliver continuous improvement in the four organizational end-states (safety, quality, cost, and service)Facilitate and drive goal and objective planning with teams that this position is responsible forEnhance partnerships with our raw materials suppliers through creation of feedback mechanisms regarding cost, quality, and delivery and identifying efficiency opportunities as relates to delivery times and the operationsIdentify and share best practices across the facility and networkWork with Scheduler and Coaches on weekly product scheduling for your area of responsibilityTo enhance flexibility within our operation, occasionally spend time on other shifts and in other areas within the plant

Education

High School Diploma or GED requiredBachelor’s Degree preferred; experience and business knowledge will be considered in lieu of degree completion

Experience

Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a leadership/coaching role with significant involvement in developing members to greater levels of responsibilityExperience in the food industry is preferredExperience in Meat Harvest Facility preferredBi-lingual English and Spanish preferred

Skills And Competencies

Proven ability in developing and coaching others to greater levels of responsibilityExperience using continuous improvement methodologies (5S, lean, Six Sigma, etc.) to improve products and processesDemonstrated knowledge and experience in budgeting, capital planning, capacity planning and productivity pipeline projectsDemonstrated communication and listening skillsStrong interpersonal skillsCommitment to personal growthDemonstrated ability to problem solve effectively and efficientlyAbility to lead by example and involve others in the decision-making processProven ability to manage multiple tasks and be flexible by adjusting prioritiesProven ability to motivate others and affect change; drive to achieve resultsWilling to take calculated risksLearning agility
