Job Overview

Due to Client growth, we are actively seeking a Distribution Planner Engineer to join our in the Syracuse, NY.

Responsibilities & Duties

Perform system studies to assess electric distribution system adequacy and to identify the optimum size configuration and timing of necessary system upgradesEnsures that projects are appropriately justifiedMay participate in area specific or system-wide initiatives as an independent contributor engineer in addition to leadership responsibilitiesProvides clear direction to Distribution Engineers for numerous DG/DER and System Planning related projects including Circuit Hardening projects special Protection Settings & CoordinationEnsures client requirements are met in a timely manner and ensures quality of product is utmost importanceMonitors forecasts and stays within allocated division distribution capacity budgetEnsures the system is designed to be efficiently operatedAssists Distribution Engineering Design group in the development of major distribution facilitiesWorks closely with estimating to ensure primary system is designed to current standardsWorks closely with Distribution Design Engineering Projects Group and Construction Management Group and others to help in lifecycle progression of projectSupervises staff to accomplish results through effective recruitment and selection training and development performance management rewards and recognition

Qualifications & Skills

Bachelors Degree in Engineering or equivalent related experience Masters Degree 5 years of experience as an Electric Distribution Engineer or equivalent including but not limited to distribution capacity planning forecasting distribution peak demand distribution reliability engineering distribution system designElectrical Engineering knowledge with a focus in Power SystemsExperience with CYME and load flow analysis tools/modulesKnowledge of transmission engineering or operations substation engineering transmission or distribution protection distribution design engineeringExperience working with SAP Financials and Work Management SystemKnowledge of applicable engineering principles codes regulations policies and procedure’s related to the industry and IEEE guidelinesUnderstanding of the regulatory environment
