K&L Gates is currently accepting applications for a 2024 1L summer associate position (graduation year: 2026) in our Chicago office.

Candidates must have a strong interest in the firm’s Intellectual Property practice areas and be a self-starter who possesses the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Additionally, candidates must have superior academic credentials, excellent written and oral communication skills, as well as a commitment to providing the highest quality client service. Acceptable background credentials can include: Biochemical Genetics, Bio-Medical Engineering, Biotechnology, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Computer Engineering, Computer Science (Engineering), Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Electronics, Genetic Engineering, Genetics, Material Science, Molecular Biology, Neuroscience, Organic Chemistry, Pharmacology and Pharmacy. It's strongly preferred that candidates be qualified to sit for the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office examination. Candidates will work closely with experienced lawyers who will provide active mentoring.
