Tax Manager

Our client, Seidler Kutsenda Management Company, LLC (“SKMC”) in Marina Del Rey, has retained us to identify a Tax Manager who will rise to Controller in the near future. This position will report to the Vice President of Tax and Finance who has been promoted from within and has been with the firm for more than eight years.

SKMC provides investment management services to a series of private equity funds known as Seidler Equity Partners (“SEP”) in the United States and Australia.

The firm provides a compensation package that includes a base salary and discretionary bonus, plus a benefits package that includes 401(k), Medical, Dental and Vision insurance that the company pays 100% of the premium for the employee and all dependents. POSITION DESCRIPTION

TAX

Review federal and state tax filings for partnerships (including foreign and state withholding) and corporations, K-1s, extensions, and estimates; Prepare quarterly tax estimate calculationsPrepare and file annual information returns (e.g., Forms 1099, CA Forms 592B, property taxes)Manage third party tax relationships to ensure timeliness and correctness of work; Resolve tax notices.

FINANCIAL

Assist and manage the annual audit with internal team and third party providers; Prepare and respond to confirmations and other requests/reporting to Limited Partners; Prepare IRR and waterfall calculations and manage communication with investment, finance & accounting and legal teams on material updates on a quarterly basis; Prepare capital calls and distributions; Conduct FAS review and assist with the preparation of financial statements.

COMPLIANCE

Assist with review and preparation of compliance reporting and other items.

QUALIFICATIONS

Four years of experience in public accounting and/or private equity; Certified Public Accountant (CPA); Tax experience required (an emphasis in partnerships highly valued); Consistent and diligent attention to detail and accuracy;Proficiency within in a fast-paced environment; demonstrated organizational skills, strong time management, attention to detail, and the ability to multi-task; Ability to monitor and prioritize work; strong commitment to meeting a continuous cycle of deadlinesAbility to work across all areas of the finance department (e.g., tax, accounting, finance, compliance, etc.) as well with third party / outside service providers; Comfortable performing hands-on work and supporting other employees from staff to leadership levels; Demonstrated ability to work within a small team; Strong computer technical skills – Microsoft Excel and Word

Jonelle Jue, Chief Financial Officer and Chief Compliance OfficerJonelle joined Seidler Equity Partners in 2007 and is responsible for financial management and regulatory compliance for the firm and its related entities.

Prior to joining SEP, Jonelle was a senior manager at Ernst & Young LLP, where she focused primarily on tax consulting and compliance for business owners and their related entities. She has over 30 years of diversified accounting, tax, and audit experience.

Jonelle received a bachelor’s degree in Accounting from the University of Washington and a master’s degree in Taxation from Golden Gate University. She is a certified public accountant.

Jonelle has a daughter, a son, and two mischievous dogs. She enjoys traveling, hiking, cooking, and spending time with friends and family.

Eric O’Brien, PartnerEric joined Seidler Equity Partners in 2015 and is involved in the diligence and execution of the new invesements, as well as in providing support to the firm’s partenr companies. He emphasizes close working relationships with SEP partner management teams to help drive growth, scale, and profitability.

Prior to joining SEP, Eric worked at The Stephens Group, a family office with a history of investing in entrepreneur- and family-owned companies across the consumer, food and beverage, industrial product, and infrastructure sectors. Prior to joining The Stephens Group, Eric was an Associate at Harris Williams & Company, an investment bank specializing in merger and acquisition advisory services, in its Richmond and London offices.

Eric graduated with distinction from The College of William & Mary with a BBA in Finance and Entrepreneurship. Continuing his education, he graduated with distinction from the Mason School of Business MBA Program. He was a member of The College of William & Mary’s varsity football program.

In his personal life, Eric enjoys cooking, weight training, and being outdoors. Eric and his wife, Samantha, adore spending time with their newborn son and fur baby, a West Highland terrier.

Tristan McNeil, Vice President of Tax and Finance

Tristan joined Seidler Equity Partners in 2015 and is responsible for assisting in the financial management of the firm and its limited partnerships.

Prior to joining SEP, Tristan was a senior associate at Ernst & Young LLP, where she focused primarily on tax compliance for private equity clients and worked as an accounting manager at a start-up leasing company. She has over 10 years of diversified accounting, tax, and audit experience.

Tristan graduated magna cum laude from the University of San Diego with a bachelor’s degree in Accounting. She is a Certified Public Accountant.

Tristan is a Southern California native and enjoys biking on the beach, snowboarding in the local mountains, and taking road trips throughout the state. She is also an avid dog lover, usually having her two dogs in tow with her husband and their two kids. Tristan also volunteers at Wags and Walks, a local dog rescue center.
