Duties, Responsibilities & Other

Report directly to and work with the Sector President. Support the development of a 5-year business activity plan that supports a 10-year Sector Strategic Plan. This effort may include:

Supporting and/or leading: research, conducting interviews, group strategy meetings, and using personal experience, network, and contacts to gather information that will drive KCI’s future activities and investment.Develop investment strategies that will have an impact on the strengths and weaknesses of the firm that will better the firm’s position with the goal of growing revenue in the Energy markets space.Oversee the development of the strategic planning document for presentation to the President, C-Suite, CEO and Board of Directors.Other duties as assigned include support of the broader KCI Holdings business to grow revenue and improve business operations.

Responsibilities

Upon adoption of the Sector’s 10-year strategic plan into the overall corporate strategic plan, this position will be responsible to lead the following efforts:

Search and identification of target firms for potential teaming or acquisition in support of the planned business activities.Manage the implementation of the key hire and acquisition strategies outlined in the approved Sector strategic plan.Network throughout the industry to help promote KCI with potential clients and industry partners.Support the firm’s business development staff by providing contacts, advice on approaching business development, marketing, and conflict management for specific clients.Observe the daily business activities and identify deviations from the proposed strategic planning document.Work with the Sector President, Leadership and Management teams to monitor the firm’s progress in achieving the outlined results.Work with Business Development staff to support capture planning and updating strategic planning databases.

Position Requirements

The ideal candidate will possess 30+ years of experience related to utility sector energy business management, development, and leadership. Preference is made for a candidate who has achieved a ranking of president or higher at Investor-Owned, publicly traded Power and or Natural Gas Distribution companies.Experience with regulatory agencies including rate case authority, business plan performance responsibilities, and strategy influence are qualifications required to full fill this position.Personal network of contacts and experience within the North American market that allow for the understanding of how the market will move and shape-shift to meet regulatory and investment demands.A Professional Engineer is preferred.Education including an MBA is preferred.

Bachelors Degree in Engineering or other appropriate undergraduate degree preferred MBA or appropriate graduate degree preferred PE preferred or similar design professional accreditation Member of professional organization or society Pre-employment drug screening is a condition of employment. Manage/Direct all day-to-day Operations staff functions Transact usual and ordinary business including personnel actions of the company, including: Enter into contracts Execute powers delegated by the CEO Prepare, submit and Recommend for Board Approval:Annual Budget Capital Budget Officer promotions Officer salary and incentive compensation Business sector policies Annual Incentive Compensation plan Officer compensation study (every two years) SERP participants and level of contribution Organizational changes Preside over Market Leader and Operations meetings Oversee Strategic Marketing and business implementation efforts Develop/Maintain Key client relationships Approve timesheets and expense reports of direct reports Provide President’s Report for Board meetings Provide strategic input to CEO Provide input to COB/CEO regarding the acquisition strategy. Develop/Implement the 1- and 3-year business planning efforts Design, recruit, train and build a high-performance team Train adequate backup personnel to support your role in your absence Submit for approval and deliver timely annual Employee Performance Appraisals for direct reports Meet annual Performance Agreement targets Oversee profitability analyses of business sectors Report out at monthly town hall meetings as needed Submit content to KCI publications and annual report on the state of the company With COB, Represent KCI in the community With COB, Represent KCI in regional and National Industry/Trade Associations Comply with all KCI policies and procedures Other duties as required
