Duties, Responsibilities & Other

In a supervisory capacity plan, develop, coordinate, and direct a number of large and important projects or a project of major scope and importance. Work with all departments within the company to develop client relationships that lead to sustainable profitable revenue. Develop plans and specifications for all aspects of highway design including, but not limited to, alignments, right-of-way, drainage, E&S, traffic control, and utility coordination. A minimum 5 years of experience with TDOT, the PTC, or private clients preparing HOP plans in TN preferred. Assist with 3D design using InRoads modeling while transitioning to OpenRoads Designer. Train and mentor junior level staff. Position can be hybrid, however attendance at field meetings may be required. Some overnight travel required as well as travel to other KCI and client offices as needed.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering. Appropriate graduate level work. 6 - 10 years of professional experience. PE Required.The target candidate will have experience in planning, organizing, estimating, scheduling and monitoring projects.Develops positive working relationships to effectively coordinate work activities. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Pre-employment drug screening is a condition of employment. Background and motor vehicle checks may be required based upon position.

Performance Expectations

Submit for approval and deliver timely annual Employee Performance Appraisals for assigned staff Train adequate backup personnel to support your role in your absence Comply with all KCI policies and procedures Ensure projects fulfill ISO compliance requirements Manage work routine of all assigned staff and assign job activities as required Complete other duties as required/assigned Achieve or exceed budgeted individual utilization target(75%-80% typical) Attend bi-weekly(or more frequently as necessary) meetings with project team on all projects/tasks Chart and provide task performance results Complete all tasks on time and within budget while fully meeting the scope Consult and coordinate with other practices and sub-consultants as required Operate within specified (corporate or project) budget parameters Prepare interpractice agreements and/or outside requests as required Provide technical project and staff oversight Serve as task manager on select projects Compare field data to base plan Conduct site visits and gather data, including measurements, sketches, notes and photographs as needed Prepare design calculations, drawings, specifications and cost estimates for review and approval Prepare preliminary concept designs and submit for approval Read and interpret technical documents needed for performance of job Review and approve shop drawings Complete Annual Individual Training Program
