Job Title: Fleet Maintenance Technician III
Department: Fleet Operations & Maintenance
Job Summary
Under general supervision, diagnose, maintain, repair, and service a wide variety of fleet vehicles, equipment, and specialized vehicles.

Duties/Responsibilities
Diagnose, perform maintenance, and repair on light, medium, and heavy vehicles and equipmentService vehicles with fuel, oil, and coolant; perform preventive maintenance by checking items such as battery condition, tire air pressure, coolant and oil levels, and hydraulic and brake fluid levelsPerforms skilled repair and maintenance on a variety of gasoline-powered equipment and vehicles, such as replacing bearings, axle seals, brake master cylinders, resurfacing brake drums and rotors, etcRepairs, overhauls, replaces and rebuilds engine and various components of vehicles and equipmentDiagnose, maintain and repair hydraulic systemsCoordinates with administration and other trades to complete projects/work orders efficientlyPerform and assist in the maintenance and repair of light, medium, and heavy vehicles and equipment to ensure the availability of equipmentConduct installation and removal of auxiliary equipmentResponds to emergencies to resolve immediate safety concernsMaintains tools and equipment to ensure the availability of equipment in safe operating condition
Required Skills/Abilities
Ability to operate and give instruction for proper operation of the light, medim, and heavy vehicles and equipmentAbility to diagnose the failure of vehicles and equipment from the trade knowledge and to use diagnostic equipment and decide how properly repairKnowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance; this includes the ability to operate, calibrate, tune, and synchronize, and perform a complex rapid adjustment on equipment, machinery, and tools such as motor vehicles, motorized equipment, mechanic tools, drill press, welder, forklift, hydraulic press, battery tester, steam cleaner, power washer, and related materials used in performing essential functionsAbility to explain, demonstrate and clarify to others within well-established policies, procedures, and standards. Ability to follow specific instructions and respond to simple requests from othersAbility to perform addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division; calculate percentage and decimalsAbility to recognize and identify individual characteristics of colors and odor to determine the condition of fluids, shapes to distinguish objects clearly, sounds to determine if the equipment is operating correctly, track down malfunctions, and textures to detect wearAbility to use a computer to document work and work order status and perform parts requests to ensure accurate communications
Education and Experience
High school diploma or equivalentAt least five years of related experience requiredFive or more Certification from National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE)Master Certification from National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) preferred
