Controller / Maine Drilling and Blasting / Location: ME, NH or MA (hybrid schedule available)

We are working with our client Maine Drilling and Blasting (MDB) in seeking a ‘can-do’ Controller to join their leadership team. MDB is an ESOP company with operations in multiple states and is open to the candidate being based near their offices in Gardiner, ME, Auburn, NH, or Milford, MA. Reporting to the CFO, the position will involve working with the accounting team and senior leaders to build strong relationships and partnerships to meet the accounting and reporting needs of MDB’s 3 companies and 15 divisions. A hybrid schedule will be available upon completion of the orientation period.

Requirements of the Controller:· Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business-related field.· 7+ years of experience in an accounting management role, preferably in a construction-related field. At least 3 years of supervisory experience leading an accounting team.· A ‘can do’ attitude and willingness to find ways to meet the needs and requests of leadership.· Demonstrated ability to successfully manage and develop a service-focused accounting team based in multiple office locations.· Experience managing a successful ERP implementation and related software integration.· Experience with a robust ERP (e.g., Sage) desired. MDB is in the process of implementing Acumatica. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams).· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.· Ability to travel to MDB locations throughout the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic as needed, +/- 10%.

Responsibilities of the Controller:· Responsible for MDB’s financial plans and policies, its accounting practices, maintenance of financial records, and preparation of financial reporting in compliance with applicable laws, regulations and ensuring compliance with GAAP.· Leads a 9-employee accounting team based in ME and NH to ensure the accurate and timely month-end and year-end close and financial reporting processes.· Ensures that the accounting team delivers outstanding service and is flexible to meet company needs.· Leads the transition from Sage to Acumatica ERP ensuring that business operations are not interrupted and that employees/managers are well trained to use and adopt the new system.· Provides timely reporting and analysis to the CEO, CFO and members of the leadership team as needed.· Works closely with CFO and FP&A Manager to assist in the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts.
