Staff Engineer, Global Quality

Opportunity

In support of the VPE Quality leadership, this position is responsible for the coordination and successful completion of strategic and short-term projects to improve customer-experienced quality through voice of customer feedback (which may include obtaining that feedback, where appropriate).Driving these projects would include coordination between various parts of the business (marketing, product engineering, packaging engineering, manufacturing locations and other areas as appropriate).This position would also support implementation of quality initiatives/systems in new plant start-ups.

Specific Responsibilities

Partner with plant leadership to support COPQ (Cost Of Poor Quality) reduction through disciplined problem solving and effective quality system implementation and/or improvements. Analyze, scope and lead key projects that improve Claims, Damages, Returns and Customer Satisfaction metrics for product line as identified (this may change, as needed).Manage a one to three year project portfolio of key projects through close collaboration with customer teams and Kohler Co. representatives. Analyze, scope and lead cross-functional teams that proactively identify and resolve emerging field issues.Communicate voice-of-customer issues effectively through the organization, including all functions or business teams.Systematically implement corrective actions within customer service, product designs and plant controls. Act as the primary representative from the Kitchen and Bath Americas – Quality organization for new plant start-ups and assist in supporting implementation of quality initiatives and systems. Provide analysis and reporting which allow an effective allocation of problem-solving resources.Act as a resource to the Senior Manager – Quality Engineering and Director – Quality in meetings with Executive Management. Utilizing cross-function teams, act as a Project Manager to identify, scope and complete requests for engineering action with low to medium complexity.Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders to align resources and accelerate improvements. Drive systemic changes that make it easier to share data, drive accountability and provide historical records of decisions or actions taken.

Skills/Requirements

Requires a 4-year degree in an engineering field. Should have at least ONE years of relevant experience working directly with customers driving quality improvement and at least THREE years of work experience in the quality function. Knowledge of Kohler processes (product development, operations and quality systems) would be very valuable. Project and/or Program Management experience required. While not a requirement, the ability to speak Mandarin and/or Spanish are highly desired.

The salary range for this position is $98,900 - $125,600. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s experience, their education, and the work location. Available benefits include medical, dental, vision & 401k.
