BASIC PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF POSITION

The Mechanical Engineer will provide activities for engineering support to analyzing mechanical and thermal devices, troubleshooting problems, determining solutions, and drive engineering improvements.

This role is responsible for developing a thorough understanding of the requirements and applying best practice project planning to execute projects throughout all aspects from concept to delivery. The primary objective will be to ensure successful project outcomes to meet budgets, project timelines and project stakeholder expectations.

PRINCIPAL ACTIVITIES: This position does the following in accordance with all applicable Federal, State and local laws / regulations and the Company’s policies, procedures and guidelines:

Plan, conceptualize, and create mechanical and electromechanical products and systems for new products; design systems and components that meet needs and requirements Perform engineering calculations to support design work Provide engineering information by answering questions and requests Create and review technical drawings, plans, and specifications Evaluate mechanical and electromechanical systems by applying principles of mechanics, thermodynamics, hydraulics, heat transfer, and materials Collaborate with multi-disciplinary engineering teams, and work with vendors and contractors Develop specifications and testing processes, and perform testing and validation of new designs Assure system and product quality by designing testing methods, testing finished products and system capabilities, and confirming fabrication and product assembly Confirm system and product capabilities by conducting feasibility and testing; conduct experiments methodically, analyze data, and interpret results Generate working prototypes for testing and customer demonstration Alter and modify design to meet requirements and improve designs Perform detailed documentation to track project development and design process Ensure project timeline is met and project stays within budget Other duties/projects as assigned by management.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field required. At least 3 years related working in the mechanical engineering field. Strong computer skills, with experience in Solidworks, PDM, and Matlab/LabView programs Firm grasp of engineering concepts, and experience designing mechanical systems and products Solid understanding of core concepts including mechanics, kinematics, thermodynamics, materials science, etc. Familiarity with mathematical computing and analysis tools (Matlab, LabView, etc.) Working experience with product lifecycle management (PLM) and finite element analysis (FEA) Adequate knowledge of engineering analysis tools (ANSYS, ProMechanica, or similar) Experience using CAD software such as SolidWorks, ProE, or similar Strong written communications skills to explain technical concepts dealing with manufacturing and maintenance of mechanical systems

Physical Requirements

Ability to climb on and move around equipment to demonstrate, repair and/or modify equipment.
