Job Summary And Qualifications

As a Mental Health Counselor at our facility you will be joining a team that has a passion for creating positive patient interactions and a dedication to caring for the multi-faceted wellness of those we serve. In this role:

You will provide professional support to patients and families ensuring that patient psychological and physiological needs are met. You will therapeutically meet patient’s daily needs and play a role on the interdisciplinary team by performing psycho-educational groups and providing ongoing support throughout hospitalization. You will provide patient monitoring through one-on-one patient support and Q15 minute checks as ordered. You will ensure that patients are receiving adequate nutrition and that their hygiene needs are met, and assist nurse with tasks as assigned. You will assess for suicidal and homicidal ideations, psychosis, and other mental disorders and report potentially dangerous situations and/or behaviors to charge nurse. You will recognize and respond to differences in legal consent and release of information issues for patients and families. . You will establish and maintain effective cooperative working relationships with social service staff, nursing staff, medical staff, and other departments.

What qualifications you will need

Current Utah State licensure in Social Work. Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) required. American Red Cross or American Heart Association Basic Life Support Course (BLS or BCLS) and Certification. Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) / Nonviolent Crisis Intervention training within 90 days of hire. 2 years in related field preferred (e.g. rehabilitation, psychology, social services, and counseling).
