We are seeking a highly motivated Geospatial Systems Engineer to support the design, prototyping, documentation, and demonstration of components of an advanced geospatial processing system and advanced geospatial workflows in pursuit of new business opportunities. This position will be at the leading edge of advancing the standards of practice for geospatial technologies. As part of the Geospatial Technology group within the Sensors & Global Sustainment Line of Business, the successful candidate will work within a team to design, develop, deliver, and support software and GIS workflows that solves our customers’ varied challenges. The position is located in Greensboro, NC.
Responsibilities• Designing, developing, testing, documenting, and demonstrating advanced geospatial workflows• Processing varied geospatial datasets• Preparing presentation materials• Presenting new technologies and workflows• Supporting the team in planning and strategy workshops• Contribute to the requirements evolution and integration of the software used in global geospatialdata production• Participating in agile planning meetings
Basic Qualifications• Bachelor’s Degree in Geographic Information Systems, Geography, Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field or equivalent experience• Experience with GIS desktop applications i.e. ArcGIS Pro/Desktop, Global Mapper, QGIS.• Experience with photogrammetry and/or electronic light table (ELT) desktop applications i.e. ENVI, Erdas Imagine, SocetGXP.
Desired Skills• Experience with U.S. DoD GEOINT mission requirements• Extensive data production, formatting and• manipulation experience with Digital Elevation Models,• Satellite Imagery, Point Clouds and Derived Datasets• (Vector/Raster, PCs and 3D Meshs) used in large scale• correlated databases.• Exposure to formats: ntf, tif, laz, heif,, copc, xml, cog, shp, gpkg, json, jp2k, pbr, rpb• Geographic Image Mosaic Production• Experience with Geospatial software products: Global Mapper, QGIS, ENVI, ERDAS, ESRI, etc.• Experience with Geospatial Libraries: GDAL/OGR, GEOS, PROJ, numpy, fiona, shapely, pandas, etc• Linux Experience• Experience writing automation routines: python, bash, PowerShell, etc.• Matlab Mapping Toolbox a plus.• Excellent written and verbal communication skills• Excellent presentation skills• Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment• Strong analytic and organizational skills• Takes ownership of results• Eager to dig into new topics
