ABOUT LAW ROCKSFounded in 2009, Law Rocks is a nonprofit organization that promotes youth music education and raises funds for local nonprofits via a world tour of battle of the band rock concerts – starring legal professionals. Law Rocks concerts have raised over $7 million dollars and been held in 29 cities. Law Rocks U.S arrived in Los Angeles in2012 with a single show, and now tours to a dozen annually.

ABOUT THE POSITIONAs one of two event leads, this role is responsible for the successful execution of half of the tour dates on the Law Rocks US calendar. In addition to creating successful and ever-improving concert events, the Associate Director of Events is the primary point of contact for band members and firms; building relationships with contacts in designated cities from year to year is a vital part of this position. The Associate Director of Events works at the direction of the Director. This is an ideal role for an individual who enjoys different types of work, travel, music, and giving back.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLSHonest, trust-worthy, and ethical.Strong work ethic – you like to be busy with a variety of tasks.Efficient; ability to handle a high volume of detailed tasks and email.Strong written and oral communication skills.Highly organized; strong attention to detail as well as the ability to see the big picture.Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to work well with all different types of people and handle situations with diplomacy and warmth, even in busy periods.Motivated and proactive, able to identify priorities and shift them as needed.Comfortable with numbers and basic financial reporting.Comfortable with and able to execute physical tasks such as packing and transporting road cases, taking inventory of merch, setting up signage, etc.Able to handle unexpected problems and come up with solutions, particularly at the live events.Undergraduate degree is preferred.Experience in live events is a bonus.Experience in frequently used tools is a bonus: Asana, Canva, Eventbrite, Salesforce, Slack, Squarespace, Typeform, Microsoft Office (particularly Excel).

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITSHourly rate $30 - $40 per hour. This position works 30 hours per week. Benefits include flexible hours, sick time, vacation time, and monthly phone and internet stipend. Position is mostly remote, with 1- 4 days at the Law Rocks office in Reseda required per month, as well as 6-12 trips per year for leading/assisting on tour dates.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Event PlanningOversees the planning and execution of 6+ Law Rocks tour dates each year; 3+ in the spring and 3+ in the fall.Logistics and Event Execution: Ensure all necessary communications are executed for a successful event. Lead all preparation for tour dates including merch inventory, packing show cases, and prepping event materials. Will travel to their 6+ cities each year to a run the event on the day of show; will travel to an additional 3+ cities a year to assist with other tour dates.Venue Communications: Assist with research and booking of venues. Maintain consistent communications with events and production team at venue regarding all details and logistics.Vendors: Research and negotiate with all needed vendors – catering, photographer, videographer, backline rental, merch workers, etc.Host and Judge: Hire a host for each tour date. Research and recruit members for Rock Panel of Judges. Execute communications with these key contacts. Prep and present host talking points.Nonprofits: Serve as liaison to nonprofit representative at each chosen nonprofit as well as the Music Matters grant recipients. This may include handling logistics and communications for youth or special opening acts. Band ManagementRepresent Law Rocks as the first and most frequent contact for bands. Build relationships with band members, ensure they receive the communication and support needed.Band Recruitment: Maintain band recruitment information in Salesforce. Using both existing and new contacts, ensure Call for Bands reach the widest possible audience, via personal outreach as well as strategizing new methods as needed. Ensure potential leads on new bands are recorded and followed up with.Band Communication: Ensure band members are informed regarding all important details. Respond to all questions and concerns. Provide ideas and support for band fundraising. Execute Kick Off welcome calls.Band Experience: Build relationships with band members and key firm personnel. Provide support and a friendly contact at the organization. Consistently evaluate ways to improve band experience, both in the leadup to the event and at the show itself.Administrative Support: Create and maintain band applications, review playlists, field marketing requests and connect firm marketing contacts with Associate Director of Marketing as needed. Marketing and DevelopmentEnsure a successful event by managing the fundraising aspect of each tour date as well as coordinating marketing efforts with the Associate of Marketing and Development.Sponsor Management: Point of contact for all sponsorships brought on by participating bands; process paperwork and invoices. Ensure sponsors receive all perks included with their package. Communicate marketing perks to Associate Director of Marketing and ensure they are received.Marketing and Promotions: Ensure all marketing collateral is received and available to the Associate Director of Marketing in a timely fashion. Review and approve email, event page, and social media promotions created by the Associate Director of Marketing; communicate any marketing leads, contacts, or ideas to them based on specific show needs.Fundraising: Monitor fundraising for each tour date. Proactively identify any issues regarding the status of ticket sales, donations, and band sponsorships and troubleshoot. Create final reports for charity donations, and each event with all fund types reconciled.Leaderboard Management: Execute daily calculations and reports on fundraising via Salesforce, publishing on event site. Communicate regarding pending funds with the rest of the team.Salesforce: Update and maintain all records in Salesforce, including, but not limited to: contacts, accounts, all opportunities, payments, and custom fields.Research: May assist with identifying potential sponsors, grants, and donors for the organization. Help gather soft leads on new sponsor opportunities. May conduct early sponsor outreach.
