Description
Leidos Defense Systems is seeking a talented Principal Investigator to join a diverse team to create unique solutions for complex problems. With offices across the United States engaging in the defense, space, cyber and commercial fields, Leidos Defense Systems provides responsive, cost-effective engineering, scientific, IT and manufacturing solutions to our customers most technically challenging problems.
Primary Responsibilities
As a Principal Investigator within the Defense Systems Group, the individual will lead a product development team involved with design, manufacturing, and testing of military missile systems components. The position will have responsibility for planning, tracking, and execution of complex tasking within technical, schedule, and budget constraints. The Principal Investigator will be the primary interface with the customer and will also be responsible for customer relationships. Additionally, the Principal Investigator will be a critical member of the proposal team responsible for follow-on business and on contract growth.
Basic Qualifications
Candidate must have strong leadership credentials, good organizational skills, attention to detail and work well as a key member of a team often tasked to be highly responsive and agile in order to satisfy critical warfighter needs.
The Candidate Must Have Experience In The Following Areas
Bachelors Degree and 12 years of prior relevant experience.Experience in medium to large complex machining, welding and assembly programsFlight Programs (Missile, Space Launch or Rocket launch systems)Cost estimating and Budget managementOrganizational/IPT developmentLeading a large and diverse team including suppliers and subcontractorsDisciplined metric-driven program managementProven Experience managing to and meeting tight schedulesEffective communication of information between various functional disciplines as well as strong briefing skill with Sr. Gov’t customers (SES, General Staff) and C level leadership.Proficient using Microsoft Excel, Word, Project, and PowerPointStrong understanding of hardware development, manufacturing, procurement, production, and integration.

Pay Range
Pay Range $122,200.00 - $220,900.00
