Controller (Oil & Gas Revenue Accounting) - Dallas, TX

LHH is working with an oil and gas company which has non-operating working interests that is looking for a new Controller. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, particularly in revenue accounting within the oil and gas sector. This role requires a strategic thinker who can lead and manage a team while ensuring compliance with industry regulations and company policies. The Controller will play a critical role in financial reporting, analysis, and decision-making processes, contributing directly to the company's success and growth.

Job Responsibilities:Oversee the revenue accounting function, including managing the preparation and analysis of revenue recognition reports.Ensure accurate and timely recording of revenue transactions in compliance with GAAP and industry standards.Review contracts, agreements, and lease terms to determine appropriate revenue recognition methods.Collaborating with cross-functional teams to resolve revenue-related issues and discrepancies.Lead and mentor a team of revenue accountants, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure high performance and professional development.Drive process improvements and efficiencies within the revenue accounting function, implementing best practices and leveraging technology solutions where applicable.Prepare and present financial reports, forecasts, and analyses to senior management, offering insights and recommendations to optimize revenue performance and profitability.Develop and maintain strong internal controls over revenue accounting processes, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies.Collaborate with external auditors during financial audits, providing documentation and explanations as needed to support revenue recognition practices and financial reporting accuracy.Stay abreast of industry trends, regulatory changes, and accounting standards related to revenue recognition, proactively adapting policies and procedures to maintain compliance and mitigate risks.

Job Requirements:Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA certification preferred.10+ years of progressive experience in accounting roles, with a focus on revenue accounting in the oil and gas industry.Demonstrated leadership experience, including managing and developing teams.Strong knowledge of GAAP, ASC 606, and other relevant accounting standards.Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally and interact with stakeholders at all levels.Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage competing priorities effectively.
