Product Development and Nutrition Science Intern

THE ROLEWe are seeking a highly motivated and talented individual pursuing a Master's degree in Nutrition/Dietetics to join our team as a Product Development/Nutrition Science Intern. You will report to the Product Development & Innovation Manager, and will work hand in hand with the entire Product Team. This position offers an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience in food manufacturing, product development from concept to commercialization, and nutrition science while contributing to the creation of innovative and nutritious food products. You will learn about all aspects of a fast growing food company.

Project-dependent duties and responsibilities may include

Contribute to Little Spoon’s nutrition initiatives, which may include but are not limited to developing programs to support internal and external nutrition education, nutrition communication to customers and review of nutrition opportunities within existing and new developments. Research and evaluate emerging trends and ingredients in nutrition and food science to inform strategic product development.Conduct nutritional analyses and evaluations of ingredients and recipes using software to ensure compliance with Little Spoon brand values and dietary guidelines. Familiarity with Genesis/ESHA recommended. Collaborate with the Product team to assist in the development and enhancement of current and new products, ensuring they meet nutritional goals, regulatory requirements, and consumer preferences.Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Marketing, Insights, FSQA, Regulatory, and Care to support nutrition education and product development.Support the implementation and maintenance of our Product Lifecycle Management system.

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Our ideal candidate will check most of these boxes:Currently enrolled in a Master's degree program in Nutrition, Dietetics, or a related fieldStrong understanding of nutritional principles and public health Basic familiarity with food labeling regulations, including FDA and USDA guidelines, and experience using nutrition analysis software or databasesAbility to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environmentExcellent research and communication skills Previous internship or research experience
