Los Angeles Room & BoardThe mission of Los Angeles Room & Board (LARNB) is to ensure that California’s community college students realize their postsecondary education goals by providing affordable transitional housing designed to end homelessness and, through our residential education program, promote persistence, retention, and completion from their certificate, associate’s and bachelor’s degree programs.

Director of Case Management and Resident Wellness Job SummaryReporting to the Deputy Executive Director, the Director of Case Management and Resident Wellness is a full-time professional staff member who provides oversight and guidance to the operations of the therapy and case management services offered to students of Los Angeles Room and Board. The Director of Case Management and Resident Wellness is responsible for the provision of case management and mental health services, overseeing department staff and ensuring proper program implementation, program administration and ensuring adequate documentation of services provided, data assessment & evaluation, and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to ensure students are equipped to achieve their goals.

The successful candidate will demonstrate a personal and professional commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion; work with a student-centered approach that inspires, motivates, and empowers LARNB students to be successful; have excellent organizational and time management skills; demonstrate creative thinking and problem-solving, and; have a demonstrated record of assessment and continuous program improvement.

The Director of Case Management and Resident Wellness role is an annual contract, with review periods at 3 months, 6 months, and 12 months.

Duties & ResponsibilitiesSUPERVISION & PROGRAM MANAGEMENT● Supervise, train, direct, and evaluate the work of 4 (four) case managers● Ensure case notes in HMIS and Apricot and resident files are accurate, current, and meeting organization standards● Oversee the operations of all case management services and mental health referrals.● Provide consultation and guidance to staff to address any residents of concern as needed.● Solicit, build, and maintain strong working relationships with community organizations for service linkages and care.● Provide regular professional development opportunities (both external and internal) to staff to ensure LARNB is implementing best practices● Ensure staff is actively working with residents on their housing transition plans and that residents are on track to transition to stable housing smoothly after 18 months in the program

PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT● Provide oversight to the development of therapeutic and non-therapeutic resources and workshops.● Proactively identify gaps, potential issue areas, and propose actions to address and course correct to meet organizational goals● Participate in bi-monthly case conferencing meetings for SPA 4 and ensure that LARNB case management services align with LASHA’s scope of services● Work closely with LARNB’s Director of Residential Life and Student Success to ensure that residents at housing sites are receiving the necessary services and support during their time in the program

CRISIS & EMERGENCY RESPONSE● Support staff in responding to client crises and intervene when necessary.● Direct, manage, and serve in a rotating on-call schedule to provide timely crisis and emergency response to incidents (facilities emergencies, student behaviors, fire/earthquake/natural disasters, etc.).● Ensure all incidents are reported and documented according to LARNB procedures and reporting structures.

DATA EVALUATION AND ASSESSMENT● Regularly audit documentation of supervisees to assess for accuracy and quality.● Provide Senior Leadership with weekly reports on the status of the department, resident needs, and impact data● Drive quality improvement efforts to ensure the accuracy and effectiveness of documentation efforts. FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT● Maintain program budget● Engage in regular budget review to ensure program expenses align with budget● Make budgetary adjustments to account for changes in funding and agency priorities

OTHER ADMINISTRATION TASKS● Attend regularly scheduled 1:1s with supervisor● Check mail, messages, and other communications regularly● Actively participate and engage in training and professional development.● Maintain confidentiality with client information, LARNB policies and procedures, and other sensitive information one becomes privy to in the role.● Attend scheduled meetings and perform other duties as assigned.

Experience Preferred: Five years of post-graduate experience in administrative and support services for systems-impacted youth and adolescents.

Required: Experience supervising full-time professional staff members

Education Requirements Preferred: A Master’s Degree in social work, counseling, or a related fieldRequired: A Bachelor’s Degree in social work, counseling, or a related field OR 5 years or progressive professional experience.

Physical Demands & Working Conditions The Director of Case Management and Resident Wellness serves in an on-call rotation that may require overnight stay in (or travel to) the residential facility. Must have a valid CA Driver’s License and an insured and reliable vehicle.
