π Role Overview & Responsibilities
The Senior Project Manager role manages all aspects of a project, including large projects with high level of complexity. Responsible for the overall financial outcome of a project and translates project outcomes to the impact on the organization as a whole. Serves as a subject-matter expert, trainer, and mentor and is sought after for consultation and participation in project decisions. Responsibilities
Manage and handle large, complex projects competently.Assume primary leadership responsibilities for each assigned project.Manage all aspects of a project by conducting effective pre-planning meetings, maximizing resources in the buyout process, and supporting the field and/or shop to perform work efficiently.Direct a team through project execution, which includes gaining the respect of field personnel and managing the diverse expectations and opinions of all involved parties.Evaluate the contractual scope of work. Plan, organize and staff key project positions through coordination with regional department heads and general superintendents.Initiate and maintain liaison with prime client and other contacts to coordinate scheduling activities and facilitate successful construction activities.Negotiate, prepare and issue subcontracts.Monitor/control project development through administrative direction of on-site project superintendent. Prepare, issue and update master project schedule and variance reports to ensure project is built on schedule and within budget.Manage all financial aspects of contracts (costs, billings and collections) to maintain profitability goals and positive cash flow while simultaneously maintaining a positive relationship with the client.Makes well-informed, effective, and timely decisions with limited guidance.Manage risks. Investigate potentially serious situations to circumvent problems or promptly implement corrective measures as required.Actively pursue additional work through change orders.Attend job progress meetings as required. Develop and maintain viable long-term relationships with customers, consultants, prime contractors and subcontractors.Develops and maintains network of industry contacts including GC, suppliers, vendors, trade organizations, and others.Uses knowledge and experience to make suggestions for improvement and assists in developing project managers and assistant project managers.Serves as a trainer within and outside of assigned group; develops and delivers training contentPerform additional duties and assignments as requested/needed.
Qualifications
Deep knowledge of construction, preconstruction, design, finance, and project management.Trains, coaches, and mentors others effectively.Ability to focus on long-term goals, while faced with short-term goals and challenges; sees big picture.Demonstrates a solid understanding of key functional areas including: business development, preconstruction, means and methods, project planning and scheduling, cost reporting, and budgeting.Strong interpersonal communication skills, including verbal, written, listening, and presentation.Strong ability to lead, manage, and facilitate meetings.Outstanding organizational skills; handles completing priorities and deadlines effectively.Strong leadership of projects and project teams; demonstrates servant leadership mentality.Expert ability to influence others, resolve conflict, and negotiate.Consistent reputation of being approachable, respectful, personally accountable, positive, and easy to work with.Courteous, professional, diplomatic, and highly motivated.Demonstrates a value of continuous learning and growth; proactively seeks out and acts on feedback; helps others learn and grow.Takes initiative to grow professionally and develop others.Excellent MS Office and Google Suite skills and ability/desire to learn new software systems.
Requirements
2-year associateβs degree or Bachelorβs degree (or equivalent level of technical training and related construction experience).10+ years of construction/project management experience.Must obtain OSHA-30 certification within six (6) months from date of hire (if not already certified).Travel to jobsites and client sites required.
