If you’re looking to be a part of a high performing, collaborative, and dedicated team, M Financial Group is in search of our next Actuarial Associate to join our team.Primary responsibilities will include assisting in the development and projections of corporate models, analyzing reinsurance proposals, assisting in the Statutory and GAAP reporting, experience study analysis, and developing tools to analyze reinsurance results.RESPONSIBILITIES Augment corporate model to include new products as they are introduced, as well as maintaining and updating existing modelsDetermine required information and collect said information (e.g. actuarial memorandum, pricing assumptions)Reproduce product mechanics using a spreadsheet and illustrationsTranslate the spreadsheet calculations into ALFAProject future profits for that product by making assumptions about the level and distribution of salesTest and validate resultsAssist with the preparation and analysis of quarterly and annual Statutory and GAAP reportsValidate the accuracy of reinsurance settlement statementsUpdate and maintain reinsurance reporting databases and automated toolsDevelop controls and processes for new reporting requirementsAssist in updating corporate model, analyzing quarterly financial results, and explaining variances to senior managementPerform ALFA model projections to be used in financial reporting.Perform analysis on financial results in order to explain material and unique eventsDevelop experience studies for mortality, lapse and other key business driversDetermine data requirements for producing mortality, lapse and other key business driver studiesDevelop and analyze experience study resultsMake recommendations for key assumptions based on experience resultsAssist in the creation of memos documenting the experience study findings and any assumption recommendationsContribute to reinsurance acceptance proceduresModel products being considered for reinsuranceAnalyze resulting economics to ensure that M’s financial targets are being metDocument and recommend acceptance of new products for reinsurance risk sharingQUALIFICATIONS Bachelor’s degree in actuarial science, mathematics, finance, economics, or related areASA designation from the Society of ActuariesA minimum of three years of actuarial experienceExcellent oral and written communication skillsExcellent MS Office software skills including Excel, Access, Word, and a strong ability to use the internetStrong computer proficiency including installing software, using command line programs, and scheduling tasksExperience automating tasks or analyzing data, preferably using Python or SQLExcellent high-level mathematical and analytical skillsAbility to work independently, demonstrating initiative, drive, orientation to goal accomplishment, attention to detail and organizational skillsAbility to handle multiple, complex projects and deadlines simultaneously, and to reprioritize with little noticeAbility to establish and maintain effective working relationships with Carriers, Member Firms, and fellow M Team MembersAbility to interpret and implement complex instructions in many forms (written, oral, etc.)Demonstrated ability to handle highly sensitive and confidential informationCOMPENSATION AND BENEFITSPortland OR Base Salary Range: $79,700 - $113,950Dallas, TX Base Salary Range: $75,700 - $108,250Salary will be commensurate with relevant experience, knowledge, and skills.
