Role DescriptionThis is a part-time Music Director role at Main Line Reform Temple. The Music Director will be responsible for supporting the synagogue’s robust music program working directly with the Cantor and the Director of Family and Youth Programming to provide for and enhance the musical needs and culture of the community. Including, but not limited to, conducting rehearsals, and piano accompaniment for services, holidays, and concerts. The Music Director will be able to read music, play piano, arrange music, manage professional singers, improvise, have synagogue music experience, be creative and flexible, be present to accompany the Cantor for Shabbat worship, conduct choir rehearsals and high holiday rehearsals, and manage the professional singers. The Music Director is an active part of the fabric of the MLRT community.

QualificationsMusic Education and Music Theory skillsExperience in Synagogue MusicStrong knowledge and understanding of various music genresProficient in playing pianoExcellent leadership and communication skillsAbility to work collaboratively with staff and volunteersExperience in conducting volunteer choirs and vocal ensemblesStrong organizational and time management skills

This is a 15-20 hour a week position including evening and weekend hours.
