Job Description: Environmental Sustainability Intern (June through August, 2024)
Overview
The Environmental Sustainability Intern will assist the team in essential activities related to calculating the company’s global renewable energy use. They will be involved in collecting data, researching regional electricity grid data and calculating the renewable energy mix across the global owned and leased sites. Responsibilities may also involve the evaluation of energy-related programs to increase renewable energy use within global offices, warehouses, and laboratories.
Essential Job Functions – Duties and Responsibilities
Work closely with Corporate Sustainability team and Real Estate/Facilities teams to collect information related electricity sources Research and document publicly available data for regional grids, such as grid mix and sources of electricity for the region Collect, enter and analyze electricity source data Calculate and document renewable energy use in the company’s global facilities Create a report or dashboard showing percent renewable energy mix used in the company’s regional and global facilities Evaluate potential projects or programs to increase renewable energy use Deliver a final presentation of the findings Perform other essential work-related duties as assigned
Qualifications
Education/Skills
4 th year undergraduate student actively pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Sustainability, Climate Science, or related field Basic understanding of electricity and both renewable and non-renewable sources of energy Self-motivated/self-starter Attention to detail Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills Excellent time management skills Ability to work in a hybrid environment (3 days in-person, 2 days remote)
