Correctional Health Services, one of the largest county jail healthcare systems in the nation, is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant for an exciting opportunity to work with incarcerated, addicted individuals. The Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant will work within an interdisciplinary team to provide integrated health care to patients navigating the judicial system. They will have the opportunity to impact people when they are at their most difficult times, giving this Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant a unique ability to make substantial positive changes in the lives of incarcerated individuals, their families, and the community.

We Require

Two years of experience as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician AssistantGraduate of a nationally accredited school of Nursing and Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioner Program OR graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant educational program with a valid unrestricted license to practice as a Physician Assistant issued by the State of Arizona

In addition to the requirements listed above, a Nurse Practitioner will also require:

Valid, unrestricted Arizona Registered Nurse and Advanced Practice License or ability to obtain license by the time of hireBoard Certification in Advanced Nursing Practice from The American Nursing Credentialing Center (ANCC) or American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) as an Adult and Gerontology Nurse Practitioner or Family Nurse Practitioner

Job Contributions

Evaluate patients with addiction disorders and provide appropriate evidence-based treatments, including but not limited to managing withdrawal symptoms and providing Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) where indicatedRecognize, evaluate, and treat the psychiatric and physical complications of addiction, working collaboratively with medical and psychiatric teams in an integrated approach to the whole patientRe-evaluate patients under care to refine diagnosis and treatment as indicatedDocument evaluation, treatment, and other patient interactions clearly and thoroughly, and in compliance with licensure and accreditation requirementsCollaborates/communicates with hospitals, medical providers, community agencies, state and federal agencies, and other counties regarding continuity of medical careMaintain licensure, certifications, and other credentialing as indicatedParticipates in peer review, in-service training, quality improvement processes, and other meetings necessary to improve patient careMay take periodic after-hours phone call for the patients in Maricopa County JailsMay occasionally provide medical coverage for outpatient clinics or the Mental Health UnitPerforms other duties as assigned by the Medical Director or Assistant Medical Director

Working Conditions

Work is performed in an office environment inside a jail and basement with close physical proximity to others while sitting for long periods, performing duties on the computer, and handling a high volume of work with accuracy and time pressuresPublic contact is frequent, working in confined areas with high noise and both dim and bright lighting in an isolated work areaMay require travel between work locations, telework, hybrid schedules, and weekend workCurrent NPI number, current DEA certification, and CPR certification is required upon hire
