The Outreach Coordinator’s mission is to reduce the number of unsterilized pets in the community, by researching ideal areas to hold free spay/neuter clinics, coordinating these clinics, and assessing the effectiveness of the Outreach Program throughout the service process. This position also coordinates all logistics and activities for off-site adoption and shelter special events.

We Require

One year of experience in coordinating and administering public programs and servicesBachelor’s degree in communications, public administration, business administration, or a closely related fieldA combination of education and experience may be considered in substitution for the minimum qualificationsMust possess or have the ability to obtain by the time of hire, a valid Arizona driver's license

We Also Value

Experience working in a veterinary clinic, humane society, or animal shelter  Experience driving large heavy-duty vehicles (29’ and 31’)

Job Contributions

Manage the full offsite event schedule, coordinate all logistics and activities for off-site adoption events, and staff program-associated adoption events Coordinate with local schools, churches, and community centers to host vaccine and spay/neuter clinics and schedule needed services  Select appropriate animals for program-associated events based on temperament and health and take responsibility for their health and welfare at the event including humane animal handling and sanitation Develop, write, and summarize reports to track program success for management at regularly scheduled intervalsDevelop program materials for data collection and information distribution in the community  Contact community members to determine their spay and neuter needs; compile data results to assess needs for further outreach efforts  Maintain program inventory including collars, leashes, vaccines, microchips, chip scanners, treats, flea and tick medicine, etc.Conduct community assessments via data from Chameleon (shelter software) to determine “hot spots where most of the unsterilized stray pets originate for outreach efforts 

Working Conditions

Work is performed in a business office setting; while performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk on all types of surfaces including sometimes slippery and/or uneven and rough surfacesMust be able to lift and carry up to 50lb and perform duties that require lifting, bending, and stoopingEnvironmental factors can be indoors or outdoors, working in the extreme heat of the Arizona summersMust be flexible and able to work all shifts, including starting as early as 5 am and finishing as late as 7 pm, working weekends and holidaysEmployees can be assigned to any shift, with any combination of days off, determined by the Department's needsMust be able to work independently at events Frequently handling and exposure to dogs and cats with unknown temperament or behaviorMust possess or have the ability to obtain by the time of hire, a valid Arizona driver's license with the ability to drive a 29’ and 31’ vehicle
