General Foreman

Overview

The purpose of the role of the General Foreman is to ensure the delivery of projects safely, will be responsible for scheduling, coordinating and supervising the work of all site operatives, coordinate operations and oversee workers at construction sites.

Responsibilities

Coordinate tasks according to priorities and plansProduce schedules and monitor attendance of crewAllocate general and daily responsibilitiesSupervise and train workers and tradespeopleEnsure manpower and resources are adequateGuarantee all safety precautions and quality standards are metSupervise the use of machinery and equipmentMonitor expenditure and ensure it remains within budgetResolve problems when they ariseReport on progress to managers, engineers etc.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or EqualMinimum 3 to 5 years’ experience within the road construction industry2 to 3 years’ experience of Foreman experience.Knowledge of graders and other heavy equipment.Knowledge road construction materials, road construction processes and industry requirements.Understanding of computerized controls and electronics.Interpersonal and communication skillsDemonstrate professionalismAbility to multi-task and set priorities effectivelyExcellent hand, eye and foot coordination
