Job Title: Director of Behavior Health ServicesReports To: Executive DirectorFLSA Status: Non-ExemptSUMMARY: Job Description

The Director of Behavioral Health supervises the behavioral health team to ensure the department follows best practice regulations, standards, policies & procedures, billing & documentation, evidence-based practices, and other expectations according to each staff’s scope of practice and role. The Director of Behavioral Health represents the behavioral health department on financial, operational, human resources, and other matters on the MDC leadership team. Assures compliance across the agency with requirements.

Core Competencies:Manage, evaluate, support, and monitor direct service staff including providing individual and group supervision for clinical behavioral health staff.Communicate MDC updates to staff and hold regular behavioral meetings as needed to disseminate information and support staff as a group.Guide recommended curriculum changes and other program changes necessary for the changing behavioral health environment and the latest evidence-based practices.Elevate the needs of the behavioral health department including tools, technology, training, and other resources to adequately perform department expectations and serve clients well. Support the implementation and ongoing evaluation of these technologies.As qualified to provide behavioral health supervision, reviews and signs off on supervisee’s documentation with non-independent licenses (as required).Support the assignment of clients to appropriate professionals and ensure client continuity of care among assigned professionals.Lead team documentation efforts to support timely and accurate billing. Ensure self and ensure team follows May Dugan documentation timeline requirements and quality expectations.Participate in the CARF performance measurement and management plan to identify appropriate behavioral health targets and support data collection. Update and monitor forms, policies, and procedures to comply with ADAMHS, CARF, OhioMHAS, and other applicable rules and regulations.Oversee the supervision and provide direct supervision to behavioral health interns. Oversee and maintain working relationships with colleges and universities referring to interns.Participate in the development of department budgeting and ensure insurance billing targets are met through monitoring of supervisee productivity.Lead reporting for necessary funding agencies, not including those that will be handled by the Director of Development for private foundations and other donor support.Maintain and develop community referral partnerships to support current clients’ case management and ensure a steady flow of clients to meet department financial requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:1. Adheres to and supports all HIPAA, ethics, and professional standards requirements of Federal and State Law, organizational policy, and policies of licensing and credentialing boards.2. Speaks and acts in a manner sensitive and responsive to individual ethnic, cultural, and developmental backgrounds, disabling conditions, and conditions impacting one’s ability to form accurate perceptions, process information, understand direction, and communicate important information.3. Interacts with members of this and other organizations respectfully, professionally, and in a manner representative of the May Dugan Center brand.4. Productively contributes to the functioning of interdisciplinary teams and leadership, including regular participation in team meetings and collaborations.5. Attending appropriate professional and governmental (local and state) clinical forums to network, stay up to date on the latest behavioral health interventions, and continually enhance service delivery at May Dugan Center.6. Assumes additional responsibilities and participates in special projects as needed or directed.

Additional Duties and ResponsibilitiesAttend appropriate professional, city, county, and state-wide clinical forums.Attend educational forums to enhance service delivery and best practice models across the agency.

QualificationsMaster’s degree in the social service field. State of Ohio terminal behavioral health license with a supervisory designation.At least two years of administrative and supervisory experience in a social service setting.Knowledge, skills, and experience working with data collection systems, filing systems, Microsoft applications, and electronic medical records. Strong organizational and communication (written and oral) skills.Demonstrated knowledge of CARF (Commission on Accreditation for Rehabilitation Facilities) and OhioMHAS (Ohio Mental Health and Addiction Services)Working Conditions:Work performed in a general office environment, the community, and virtually/remotely through telehealth platforms. The hours of work will be stable, but often conducted outside of normal business hours; ability to work non-traditional work hours.
