3 South Telemetry is a 42-bed unit in which patients are monitored after surgery and undergo continuous cardiac monitoring. Telemetry is used as an observation tool to monitor cardiac rhythm and rate, respiratory rate and oxygen saturation .
3 South Telemetry is a great option for a new or seasoned nurse that would like to gain experiences pertaining to the cardiac and/or surgical patient. Duties include caring for patients after surgical procedures and monitoring cardiac status.
Position Summary
Ensures that quality nursing care is rendered to all patients in accordance with the Michigan Department of Public Health, the medical center and nursing department standards. Utilizing the nursing process, functions primarily in direct patient care. Participates in maintaining a safe patient care environment. Maintains patient privacy, dignity, confidentiality and respects patients rights. Begins leadership and preceptor participation when performance demonstrates ability.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Provides professional direct and indirect patient care in the medical-surgical telemetry setting Administers medications to patients Initiates and monitors IVs and medications Provides an accurate and complete nursing record Assesses patient condition using vital signs, test results, cardiac monitoring, etc.
