Buyer - Metal Manufacturing

Position Overview:The Buyer is responsible for ordering products, services, and raw materials for MetalStorm. This position needs to ensure that all material and services required for projects and customer orders are available and of acceptable quality. This includes managing activities and timetables, in addition to providing meaningful input to the MetalStorm operations team. The Buyer is responsible for measurable contribution to the profitability of orders by utilizing techniques and systems to maximize annual cost savings and efficiencies in a dynamic organization.Job Duties:· Reviews purchase requisitions from team.· Determines best vender to purchase items based off a requisition by analyzing cost and lead times.· Creates purchase orders for all purchased items. These orders will consist of raw material orders, vendor orders, hardware, and shop floor supplies.· Ensures on time delivery of parts from vendors.· Process purchase order acknowledgments. · Brings purchase orders and requisition copies to the Receiving department to ensure receipt of goods.· Communicates with MetalStorm team if vendors are unable to meet our pricing needs and/or the requested completion date.· Maintain and communicate accurate raw material pricing for estimating purposes.· Negotiates costs. · Locates new vendors when needed and establish a working relationship.· Report Purchasing KPI’s on a weekly, monthly, and yearly basis.· Participate in cost savings projects.· Continuous improvement of the purchasing department.Requirements:· Associate’s Degree or equivalent work experience.· Two (2) years or more of prior Purchasing, Operations or Supply Chain experience.Desired Qualifications:· Bachelor’s Degree in Business.· Three (3) years or more of prior Purchasing, Operations or Supply Chain experience.· Knowledge or experience in the Metal Fabrication Industry or of the Metal Fabrication materials.
